I'm buying more tea faster than I can drink it, and I drink 1-3 pints a day. It makes me feel relaxed/good, and alert. Typically loose leaf, black tea without sugar/milk. I'll post here everyday until I get bored of tea.

Today, 1 pint of black tea, and 2 pints of darjeeling, resteeped once.

I just made a nice cup of black tea with milk and sugar:) So yum. It's cold and rainy out as well.

I drink about 2 cups a day, always black tea for me though (I'm cheap though I go with lipton, don't hate me).

I used to use better tea, and even buy loose leaf tea in Olympia cause there was a good store nearby, but I'm used to lipton now and it tastes fine. It's literally like 1 cent per bag so with sugar + milk I spend less then 5 cents per cup of tea, it keeps me from drinking bad things like soda, and it makes me happy.

Today, 1.5 pints of black tea from Yixing. Wish I knew more about the tea, because it's really good. It's got an almost sweet/floral taste to it, non-astringent. Like Darjeeling, but richer. I'm scared of the day I run out of it, because I don't know where to get more because it was a gift.

Yesterday, 1 pint of a Chinese black tea blend (of Keemun, Panyang and Yunnan) called Queen Catherine from Harney and Sons. I think it's my favorite tea from them. I haven't tried enough teas to find something similar. Every time I brew some, it tastes slightly different, because brewing time seems to affect it's taste more than usual, and also when I shake and mix the tea tin.

Also, a big cup of masala chai. Bought milk to make it, but forgot to pickup sugar.

Today morning, a big cup of yorkshire gold. Shit's been sitting in my tea cabinet for a while. I didn't like it no matter milk and sugar, or plain. Recently realized that all I had to do was brew it for a shorter time. Most of my stuff is loose leaf, but this is in tea bags, and it's processed into a powder that brews really quick, making it a lot more astringent and bitter than practically any other tea I have. Anyways, it was like a slightly lighter Assam tea.

Also today, recieved my shipment of tea from Harney and Sons. Had a pint of Nilgiri black tea. Tastes similar to Darjeeling, but with a less pine-y taste. I haven't figured out what makes it distinct though.

I do enjoy tea myself, but loose tea is hard to come by on the shelf in the grocer. Bagged tea tastes like it was strained through a gym sock to me. I'm more or less reduced to twinings loose English breakfast, gunpowder green, Earl grey, and if I can find it, Irish breakfast. I really do love the Irish breakfast but it's hard to come by where I am.

Today, 1 pint of Ceylon black tea. Second time I tried Ceylon tea, tastes like Assam, but lighter, I think? I have a hard time putting it into words what makes it different, and why I like the regular Assam I have better.

Also, Harney threw in some free samples. Just tried a flavored white tea, vanilla/grapefruit. Flavored teas aren't my thing. They all smell nice, but the tea itself seems more like an afterthought, and it always seems like it takes the backseat to the added flavor.

Unfortunately for me, Jasmine tea was disappoint. My mind is tainted, so I can't help but think of jasmine/flowery soap when I drink jasmine tea. I would still drink it, but it doesn't bring me joy.

The worst tea I've had was hibiscus tea. The acidity invokes the taste of vomit, and that's crazy to me because I've never tasted anything else that I would say tastes like vomit.

Today's tea: still trying out more of my haul. A black tea from Rwanda. 1 pint for work, one big cup in the morning using the second steep, and 1 pint just now. The first pint was really good. Brewed for 4 minutes, and it had a medium body and delicate/floral flavors. The pint I made just now was 5 minute brew, and it was full bodied, and I couldn't taste the appealing floral notes earlier. It's on par with breakfast tea, but with minimum astringency. Favorite tea so far from the haul. I guess I should consider shorter brewing times more often, because 5 minutes is standard.

Today's tea: a pint of Ceylon tea, brewed 3 minutes. Feels medium bodied that way, and fragrance comes out in its taste now, but it wasn't amazing. Also, gifted this one away, but I still got to try it. A pint of chamomile, lavender, and cornflower blend. I could only taste the chamomile, I'm guessing it's because I'm not familiar with the other flowers. A little disappointed, but it was still a good pint of tea.

Yesterday's tea: tried the last tea from my haul, a tea from thailand. It was black tea, but it was more like oolong. Purposefully, some of the leaf was not oxidized. Anyways, 1 pint of it, 1 cup resteeped. It was ok. Certainly, a very unique taste that has no comparison.

Also had a pint of my yixing black tea at dinner

Todays tea: A pint of yixing black tea for work.

Home from work. Just made some masala chai. I love this stuff. Haven't been making it recently because I didn't have milk/sugar, and it takes effort. Gotta make it the traditional way, or else it tastes like any other tea with milk but with spices added.

1-2 tablespoons of masala chai mix, 1 cup of milk, 1 cup of water, 1-2 tablespoons of sugar. Mix 1 cup of water, sugar, and masala chai mix. Bring to boil, boil 2-3 minutes. Add 1 cup of milk. Bring to boil, and when it's starting to foam over, take it off the heat, strain it, and it's ready.

Yesterday's tea: Morning pint of Rwandan tea. 3 minute brew. I think I should have brewed it longer. Or maybe, it might just be completely arbitrary why I liked it less than before. Night pint of Masala chai. I used the last amount of my better chai mix. The other mix I have has it's cinnamon overpower the other spices.

Today's tea: Morning pint of generic black tea that I can't find much information on. I think it's Assam. Or maybe, I'm just uncultured and say any tea that I find boldness as it's main attribute, is an Assam tea. Afternoon pint, was the second sample from my tea haul. A green tea flavored with citrus. Same complaints about flavored teas, but at least the citrus in this wasn't that overpowering.

Yesterday's tea: Morning pint of a blend of Chinese black tea. I should have ordered more of it, because I like it a lot, but I wanted to keep sampling new teas.

Night pint of Chamomile. That chamomile/lavender blend a few days ago did taste better.

Today's tea: Morning pint of definitively Assam, because it says assam on the box. This one has some astringency to it.

Night pint of a Nilgiri black tea. Second tasting. It tastes more like an oolong than a black tea.

I tend to only rotate through a small group of flavors of tea. I feel if I try some exotic ones I've never had, that it will kill the interest I've built up for tea over the years. :P

(P.S. the names of tea also seem a little too "overdone" to me)

I went to get some loose black tea from Winco the other day. I looked at the price and it looked ok a bit under $2, but then I saw that it was $2 an ounce!!!! It was freaking $30+ a pound.

Needless to say, I did not get any.

I used to get loose black tea in Olympia for a decent price, it was still much more then buying bagged tea mind you, but it wasn't insane (more like $5 a pound or something).

I'll stick to my liptons (which isn't the cheapest option, but it's the cheapest option that doesn't taste horrid.....to me).

100 bags for $3 in general (unless you get them on sale, in which case I stock up). That comes out to about 3 cents per bag, and adding in creamer and sugar, about 5 cents per cut of tea. It's tasty, I like it, and it's a super cheap alternative to just water (which honestly costs almost as much I get 1 gallon of crystal geyser for 80 cents...which if I actually think about it, is probably more expensive than my tea (considering I boil tap water for the tea).

Anyway, you get used to the tea you use. I used to buy more expensive tea, and it did taste better, but, I truely enjoy a good cup of liptons tea and it tastes great, as long as I have not had a better cup recently to compare it to, I don't miss anything.

If you buy empty tea bags, they're $2-6 per 100 count.

A lb of loose leaf tea gets you 227 cups of tea.

bagged tea is the chicken nuggets of tea.

Today's tea: 2 pints of Ceylon black tea.

Also, 1 pint of lapsang souchong black tea. It's a dumbass name, because it should just be called smoked tea. Big tea companies like Taylor's and Twinnings even carries it. Anyways, if it wasn't clear from it's name, it's got a smoky smell and taste to it, and it's really nice somehow. Would buy more.

The smoked tea was from a 36 variety, sampler pack I got from a sketchy Chinese internet retailer, direct from China, for $12, free shipping. What a steal. A sampler pouch has 8 g, enough for 2 pints. I've only tried 5 of them so far. Also, after buying shit from them, my junk email box tripled in size. Not surprised.

Todays tea: I had bought a gaiwan, and I tried brewing with it today, with my yixing black tea. It's a tea-cup like vessel, that you fill with a lot of tea leaf, and you brew multiple infusions over a session. The intent, is because tea compounds diffuse out of the leaf at different rates, so each cup of tea tastes can highlight the different flavors/aroma a tea has.

Anyways, the first three steepings, did not go well due to my inexperience. There's a method to pour out the tea without spilling it everywhere which I've got the hang of now. It was notably bitter, which is never the case with this tea. I likely either used too much tea, too hot water, or steeped too long. All the other steepings taste good. There is a variation in taste, but it wasn't that exceptional to die for. I'd probably save the time to do this brewing on my days off because it takes effort and time. Also, I'm really fucking caffeinated from this.

I got another 3 oz. tin of the mix I currently use, which I split 50/50 with some other full bodied black tea when I make masala chai because there is too much spice and not enough body if I make the chai with just it.
