It would still be a monster of the week show, because it would be made by the same exact people.

The writers aren't suddenly going to write a different show just because Netflix would be publishing it.

Of course they would. Theres a significant difference between something that Netflix would agree to publish and something that Disney would.

Netflix bent over backwards to do Disney stuff, so no, there wouldn't be.

So you really thing Disney would have done Daredevil or Punisher like that or are you gonna continue trolling?

Except it has had almost no overall story progression since he left the other Mandalorians. Since then it's been monster of the week BS

Thats the wrong way. Disney May have done Davedevil differently, but thats doesnt matter as that is NetFlix to Disney, where the Mandalorian would be Disney to NetFlix would most likely let Disney do whatever just to keep Disney on the platform. So, it probably would have had the same writers and been the same show...

You do know Disney has done loads of stuff like that, right? The most notable being Deadpool.

If Mandalorian was on Netflix, it would have the same writers, same directors, same producers, same actors, same everything, just published onto Netflix.

it might not be quite as serialized as you would like but nothing about it has been monster of the week

Really? Not monster of the week? How about the AT_ST? Or after that the Assassin then rookie bounty hunter? And then finally a GROUP of bounty hunters Those seem pretty Monster of the Week to me.

fair enough but that doesnt inherently make it a bad show

again it just seems like it isnt what youre expecting. Not every show needs to follow the same format and have the same kind of writing

I just wish it had a set story. Its like Disney is afraid to commit to a story so they are making it as vague as possible. At least when GL was behind it all everything made sense.

Why cant it be both? I know lots of shows that have a monster of the week style of writing, while also having a season long story. And even a series long story on top of that...

Last three episodes had no over arch story. Even the last episode had Onevery short reference of the baby plot and that character immediately got iced. So it was super isolated

Psh not at all right. Friends got so much better when it started an overarching story at the end.

After a few "monster of the week" episodes it circled back to the main overarching plot in Chapter 7, calm your tits.

This sounds like a ringing endorsement of Mando. Self contained episodes would be a refreshing change.

I always have to binge watch shows with long arcs because I want complete stories, and refuse to start until there is one. I'm one of those assholes that's killing television by not watching a show until after it's finished. I made a compromise for The Walking Dead in that I will get caught up every two or three years, as long as the season finale has a reasonable wrap-up. I'll permit a degree of what movies call "sequel hooks", but I won't get caught up on TWD unless and until all that remains is a hook. I had to make that compromise because TWD has run for so fucking long that it wasn't reasonable to wait until it finished.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again: why cant the show just be about the adventures of a Mandalorian? Why does there have to be some grand overarching plot?

Theres nothing wrong with an episodic series.

I don't mind when TV series go that route for the most part. It annoyed me with Samurai Jack, but that's about it.

My favorite seasons of the The Shield were the first few because I just loved the Barn and it's characters and seeing them all interact with one another on day-to-day cases.
