Over and over now because he doesn't have to worry about filming more for Disney. Lol.

Also, SJWs are mad that Daisy Ridley didn't agree about her "privilege" she had that allowed her to get the Star Wars role.

The Force Awakens I think was the beginning of something quite solid, The Last Jedi if I'm being honest I'd say that was feeling a bit iffy for me, Boyega said. I didn't necessarily agree with a lot of the choices in that and that's something that I spoke to Mark [Hamill] a lot about and we had conversations about it. And it was hard for all of us, because we were separated.

I'm not surprised given that his character's plot line was completely pointless and only there so he had something to do.

Oh ya. Already said he won't be in any more movies, shows, or anything. And once this movie is out, I expect him to go even harder on it. His storyline was wack in Last Jedi, and he knows it.

I agree that Finn was the biggest missed opportunity in Last Jedi. He and Poe just had their character development stalled/wrecked entirely

I dunno if Id say hes dunking on it left and right, but it sounds like he wasnt thrilled with his character in TLJ (hes got every right to feel that way) and hes not the only one who felt that way about his/her character.

Where did he say hes done with the series after IX?

I'd have to find it. He also dunked on it somewhat in another interview that he was disappointed in the way the characters went because he say Finn and Rey and etc as a han/Luke/Leia development arc and it wasn't that really.

Boyega specifically is well within his rights after being given the worst plotline in TLJ but also this tbqh

specifically the whole thing smells like Disney being desperate to convince the people that TLJ pissed off that it'll be okay this time and I'm very skeptical about this movie because of that

Boyega got shafted in The Last Jedi, a movie I actually really, really like but 90% of that is on Rey's storyline alone. I have a good feeling he'll be better-served in TROS. No matter how that film turns out overall, it's clear that Abrams gets the need for cast chemistry and is pushing for the main trio to have their fair share of quips.

Is it too late in the trilogy to ever cement that trio chemistry as being on par with the OT's? Definitely, yeah. But if this ends up feeling like sort of a reverse ANH, where a ton of the trio bounce-offs came from the beginning, then hey. Still aight.

I read the article the other day and what he said was he'll come back to the role in the future but only if he feels it's in the spirit of simpler adventure/hope/etc that he believes suits Star Wars best. Which his thoughts on TFA confirm is what he's talking about so it's not like it hasn't happened for him yet. He also talks about the trio dynamic I just mentioned but worries that it's kind of too late by TROS, which strongly suggests he thinks it's in TROS, which is a step in the right direction for Finn if nothing else.

So long as he keeps Johnson's team's ace cinematography and leaves the Rey/Kylo/Luke stuff mostly intact I wouldn't mind seeing a version with more fun and less Finn-shafting!

I have zero confidence that Abrams isn't going to retcon Rey's parents specifically in 9

Emperor being back also makes me think the Kylo/Luke stuff is going to end up being some huge master plan too.

I mean, I like it. It's Star Wars. It's not a bad movie like Solo is. But, it's just so far below what is expected from Star Wars mainline though. Plus, it has the world breaking moment on top that just is baffling.

I mean it's literally a movie where everyone fails. Rey fails, Kylo fails, Luke fails, Finn fails, Poe fails, Leia fails, Snoke fails, Rose fails, etc.

On one hand I appreciate something entirely unique to the franchise. On the other hand... what was the point? Where we start and end the film is largely unchanged.

Well, Luke is dead. Snoke is dead. The Resistance is dead. So, you got that going for you in regards of changes. Oh, and apparently a supposedly planet killer dreadnaught that was untouchable dead by a single bomber whose bombs dropped in space gravity. *shrug*

Second in the trilogy syndrome. The Empire Strikes Back got over the hump by expanding on the scope of the universe and being thematically strong.

How desperate for validation do you need to be to describe an actor stating he wasn't a fan of a project he worked on as "dunking on" the franchise.

Where is this "main trio" stuff coming from? The main characters of the Force Awakens were Rey and Finn. Who is the third person? Poe? He was barely in TFA and I dont remember him ever even meeting Rey across both movies.

Why is he even considered main character?

Because they decided he is because they feel the need to have a "main trio" even though they didn't write it that way.

To be fair he's definitely a main character in TLJ but yeah he doesn't even meet Rey until the end of it.

That would genuinely have been for the best.

And not just sarcastically because then his terrible TLJ arc wouldn't have happened, it would have been a good thing for TFA as a movie.
