Control was okay. I liked its mood and lore, but the combat was so dishwater.

Heck I like Fallen Order better than Control. I find its combat more satisfying.

Still, for combat, Devil May Cry 5 and Astral Chain blow both of those out of the water.

For story, I give big ups to AI: The Somnium Files, but I get it can be too Japanese-y for some.

Outer Wilds is my game of the year, though. Such amazing content in such a small package.

I don't really know how you could do it wrong. Even if you just throw garbage at people the whole game it's an absolute blast. Then you start flying around and it's a whole new level of fun.

I'm guessing TC thinks it's SJW because it has a none straight while male lead?

Yeah you'd think a game where you can telekinetically fling stuff at enemies wouldn't get stale, but Control managed.

Shoot shoot shoot shoot launch launch shoot shoot shoot shoot launch launch.

And using Levitate? I forgive that the controls for levitating are awkward (only one hold of the jump button carries you up, other pushes alternate you between slow fall and actual fall), but they make it practically useless for actual combat when you have to aim and oh by the way you're wide open while flying so may as well just get back into cover instead.

I'm not saying I didn't have fun with it, because I did for a time, but that was it for the combat mechanics.

Again, I reference DMC5 and Astral Chain for combat mechanics that were not only deeper but felt good throughout.
