I just ordered an Xbox One that should get here by christmas!

PC... even though I don't think I have any 8th Gen equivalent games on it. Pretty sure Monster Hunter World and DQ11 were last gen, or at most early this gen.

I've probably played on my Switch for literally 10 times as much time as my PS4, and I've had my PS4 for a year and a half longer than my Switch.

My PS4 has been a glorified MGSV and Skyrim machine. I own a few other games but for the most part I would only play those other games for about an hour or two and then never play them again (Witcher 3, Dark Souls 3, SotC).

There are a few games I put 5 to 10 hours in, namely No Man's Sky (lol) and The Last of Us (the internet told me it would get good, it never got good).

Meanwhile, nearly every game I own on my Switch had my attention to completion. I've played right through BotW three times, including finishing all 120 shrines twice.

PS4 - The Switch is pretty good as well but the PS4 has the overall better library. I was disappointed in the Xbox this gen but now that Microsoft is bringing everything to PC they're at the top for me again.

I play my PS4 the most, but I love the Switch for its portability. Don't have an X1 because there's only a couple games on it that interest me, and some of those have made their way to the Switch...

It's pretty obvious. I have around 15 Switch games (tend to stick with exclusives), and at least 260 PS4 games. I hate myself a little for not doing more with the Switch but I was holding off until I finished what I wanted to on the U backlog. Even my handhelds haven't gotten much time because I've focused on PS4.

I've played my Ps4 a lot more than my switch. That's not to say the switch is bad but I enjoy the ps4 more. It's like 70-30 ratio of playing time

PS4 then switch. I'm not sure why anybody would waste money on xbone garbage.

Switch, because playing portable has been more convenient for me to get gaming time in.

i also own a PC. I dont have Xbox or PlayStation.

I'd go with this. Even though the PS4 and XBox have mostly the same games, I'd say the PS4 exclusives are more worth owning, while the XBox exclusives are mostly meh at best.

The Switch has the most dramatically different library, but most of the games on it are games I either already own, or don't give a single shit about. And I'm hugely not a fan of portables in general and the joycon controllers specifically, so I really wouldn't want to own one even if it DID have a bunch of games I wanted to play and couldn't get anywhere else.

How long do you play at one time, and do you top the charge off when you're done, or just wait until the controller is completely dead before recharging? And how old is your controller?

Rechargeable batteries in general tend to get worse over time the more you drain them dry. My last laptop started out being able to hold a charge for like 12 hours, but eventually got to the point where it would die in under 2 hours.

I haven't actually noticed any appreciable battery capacity loss in my controller (and I've had it for about 4 years), but I rarely run it dry and tend to keep it topped off by plugging it in whenever I'm not using it. And I don't really play for like 36 hours straight at a time or anything.

Edit: didn't realize why you were asking at first, but I believe that while it is a successor to the 8th gen Wii U, Nintendo intended for it to compete in the 8th gen cycle against the PS4 and X1

Isn't it kind of grey what a generation is? I mean, the 32x is a 5th generation console hooked up to a 4th generation console. The dreamcast had a ton of 5th generation games on it but kicked off (and pretty much died before) the 6th generation.

No, because regardless of how YOU interpret it, the sorts of people who actually invented the concept of video game generations in the first place and Nintendo themselves still consider it 8th gen, so it is.

There's more to generation than simple iteration. The fact that the Switch is essentially the combined successor to the Wii-U and 3DS doesn't automatically advance the generation. It's very much a side-step and not a step forward.

I would've said PS4 two years ago, but then they decided to censor everything from Japan and piss off their customers.

So now Switch by default.

Xbox was never in the running.

I really liked Wii U, more than Switch. Shame it died due to insane mismanagement and unintentional (I assume) corporate sabotage

PS4 for me. Its exclusives easily beat X1s imo. Nintendo consoles are usually just Zelda/Pokemon machines for me but im not interested in Botw and Sword/Shield dont look good enough to buy it solely for them.

Xbox because I started collecting achievements on it so I cant really turn back now. Plus the controllers and the UI are better than the other two. And again, I own all three this generation. I wasnt ever going to buy a PS again but I swore if SotC ever had a sequel Id buy another one. The remake was good enough.

Xbox One. It has the greatest exclusives IMO. Switch has some interesting Mario games though.

Only reason is because they don't like games. XB has no exclusives to speak of this gen and their primary content for the 'new' console was limited to streaming options of last gen material. No wonder they bombed.

How is the PS4 a big step back? I mean the exclusives are great and ontop of that it also has good third part support. Sure you could say the same about the PS3 but the PS3 certainly has less. Plus VR is neat. As for "it's just Nintendo" again Nintendo have better exclusives than the Xbox and they actually innovate.

Yeah alot of the xbox exclusives are..well not exclusive they are on pc as well, and xbox game pass lets you play em on either

Ps4 does have a few good games you can only play on the ps4, it's also the easiest/cheapest way to get VR going as well (and get Beat Saber which is freaking gold).

I would say having ONE console is still worth it (This generation) and to me the only one that gives you the most bang for your buck and things you can't just do on your pc, is PS4.

Switch might work for some, but there just isn't any content on there for me. No great RPGS (That I can't play on PC or on Wii U which I already own).

I have had the opportunity to get an Xbox for only $100 once, and passed. It's just not worth it to me.

Nintendo Switch but I mostly play that in handheld mode. I don't think I have used my PlayStation 4 in over a year.
I recently got back into using my Wii U and have been enjoying that again.

I'll give him this. Switch is a console, the lite version is strictly a handheld though. Unless they released something that let's the lite play on tvs, I'll consider it a handheld.
