Structurally they were mostly on point, and most of the actions of the characters logically followed. They were thematically in-line with the series. However, they had some really godawful direction and scripting and were poorly paced. That said, I haven't seen TLJ, so I can't comment on how it compares to the other movies. But not great or anything. The worst thing the new movies do is make none of the planet's memorable. Coruscant was memorable. Cloud city was memorable.
