I thought Huey Lewis and the News were that black band from the Back to the Future prom until I was like 17.

It's like something real different
And ya'll can feel the earth shifting
I stay politic-ing in every verse spit
But I'm still live with the Mary-J blaze
I'll be the same way when everything change
And folks turn they back and burn the bridge
I'll apply the little lessons that we learned as kids
Trying to really change this world by doing music
But I need a new drug, like Hewey Lewis
Something different

but when Sports came out in '83,I think they really came into their own, commercial and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consimante professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far much more bitter, cynical sense of humour.

I like how the majority of their music has a feel good tone.

You could be feeling down in the dirt and it'd lift you up.

I had read that Huey Lewis was asked to do the theme song for Ghostbusters and he couldn't do it because of his work on Back to the Future, so they got Ray Parker Jr instead. And then Ray Parker Jr got sued for plagiarism by Huey Lewis for his "Ghostbusters" song sounding like I want a new drug.

Maybe most of us are ignoring it because referencing that scene every time Huey Louis and the News comes up is tired and played out. Did you ever think of that?

I'm not really a Huey Lewis fan, but I watched a bunch of concert footage of him and his News from the 80s on Youtube one night. Even in 1989, that is the oldest, most leathery looking motherfucker who's ever lived. It's like he was born as a 40 year old man.

I'm a Huey Lewis fan. I grew up watching the Niner dynasty of the 80's and Huey was around a lot. He frequently did the National Anthem for the Niners and he always did a great job.
