Hands down

has the best of modern controls but with classic RE survival horror

absolutely amazing. This IMO set the standard for what remakes should look like.

The revelations games had some great controls. Especially REV2. Those sub weapons are great.

I'm in the middle of it right now. Just got the STARS badge and am being pursued by Mr. X. I'm pretty blown away by it, but tbqh I think I still like RE7 a little more.

Also, I played the original pretty extensively back in the day but it's surprising how little of it feels familiar to me.

One thing I am finding weird is how flirty Leon and Claire are. I don't remember that from the old one

Yes I noticed this right away. In the original Leon was tryna keep shit together as one of the only cops alive and Claire was rebellious.

But one of the things I didn't like was:

The little interactions Leon and Claire had with each other

I didnt play the original (and I probably wont as it didnt age well)

but their relationship seemed more authentic IMO. When youre in a crisis situation, you tend to cooperate more with friendlies

I do like that Leon feels more like a rookie cop this time around. I never got that vibe in the original, but in this one he does legit feel like he's brand new on the job. And when I got to the West Office and saw they had his welcome party all set up I thought it was a really cool touch. Kinda hit me in the feels

I thought it was fantastic, although they probably could have cut out the final act. It does that thing where it ends up explaining too much, but otherwise it's a hell of an experience

It wouldn't be Resident Evil if all the shit wasn't quickly wrapped up in the last half hour of play. Tremendous lack of enemy variety brought the fun down and made it repetitive over time though,

I thought RE7 was at its best when you weren't having to fight random monsters. Tbqh when those things started popping up I was confused as to what they were supposed to be, but conceded that yes it's still a video game so they had to throw in some generic enemies.

I much preferred when it found creative ways to have the family put pressure on you as you make your way through the house

Did you notice that the extra L from the original game is sitting on the desk or floor, having fallen from the banner, as an homage?

It was a really great game. Despite not really being a fan of horror I still liked it more than the action-oriented RE4. Which is still a solid title.

One thing though, is that I couldnt make myself play through all 4 scenarios. Only did Leon A Claire B. Ill probably come back to it eventually to pick it back up.

i see you can also play as Hunk in this game? Itd be awesome if his mode is more action oriented and you can go nuts on shooting

The Hunk minigame should be the last thing you do for the platinum so you get that sweet exit photo

I also gave hunks mini game a shot and its hard as Fuck. You dont have much ammo and they expect you to go through hordes of enemies, I dont get how this is even possible.

Wait, whose scenario did you play first? Because whoevers game you played first, you should unlock the opposite characters 2nd Run and you should play that. So if you played Leon first, you should have unlocked Claires 2nd Run. Hunk doesnt get unlocked until you complete a 2nd Run. His game is not as difficult as any of the Ghost Survivors IMO, but still fairly challenging.

I did Leons first

but only leons Second run is unlocked atm
