North Dakota doesnt have a significant number of refugees like, lets say Michigan.

No reason to visit that ducking state. At least S. Dakota has Mt. Rushmore. And even then you go there, see it, and then gtfo.

To be fair, I think "refugee" is an interesting term in 2019.

vs. "immigrant".

All the people coming in from south america are apparently "refugees" because they are fleeing a miserable life of poverty and violence.

Are they "immigrants" when they are just coming here anyway, but had an "okay" life back in their native country?

Are we still allowed to call them "illegal immigrants" when they enter the country illegally?? Or is that frowned upon? Some places were trying to ban calling them illegals.

What about "illegal refugee"??? I don't think I've ever seen that one.

How do the semantics on this work?

Trying to justify whether they should be let in, based on how sad their origin story is. Pulling on the heartstrings of America. Trying to make people look bad for not letting them all in.

Interesting times we live in.

MAGA... alert? Is this supposed to be directed towards non-Americans? 'Watch the **** out - the American president is trying to make his country great again!' Now, I'm a Canadian, so the American president working towards making his country great (again) is something that would benefit me vicariously, not so much a Chinese or Russian or citizens of whatever other country that considers itself a rival of America and/or the Americans.

Back on subject; If North Dakota decided it won't be accepting any more new refugees then said refugees will have to choose one of the other States. As damaging as that may or may not be ND is not a coastal state - on teh contary it's as far removed from a coastal state as possible, geographically speaking, so it's not like they'll be jumping off the boat and getting tossed back into the ocean.

Well, I didn't know about this executive order. That's pretty fucked up. Seems like it could be trivially circumvented though. Once a refugee enters the US, what's stopping them from just moving wherever?

Money...but they usually get free Grant's and subsidies just by being one

i had diarrhea while passing through North Dakota on a film tour, it was an awful place, ok?
