BalanceLost 12/08/19 4:11:53 AM #1:	Sweden is #3 after the US and the UK in pure numbers regarding music exports and #1 if you go by per capita. Both are impressive considering we just got 10 million citizens. But how did we end up at this point where we as a nation reap such monetary rewards from music? We have a lot of artists who are popular around the world and our song-writers/producers are sought after by labels from pretty much everywhere. Artists like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga recorded their first albums in Stockholm. Ive read a couple explanations: We have a long strong history of telling stories and singing together and todays musicians merely take that tradition to new places. Culture school - a tax funded programme in most municipalities where kids who are interested in music can develop their skills from an early age. If you wanna learn to play an instrument then you get to borrow one that is essentially yours until you leave the programme. This gives kids with musical talent a solid base to stand on regardless of socio-economic standard. Swedish labels are fairly flat organisations when it comes to the actual creation of music. Artists and song-writers are given freedom to create.
