I was walking home after getting off the bus. I walked past some tall dude and as I passed him he said something. Maybe he made a noise. Maybe I misheard. I don't know. It sounded like a racial slur, but in context it doesn't make sense. I'm white and very visibly white and I have no Asian ancestry, but what I heard was a slur for Asians (specifically Vietnamese people). I ignored it and didn't react at all because I didn't believe that my ears told me the truth tbh... and they probably didn't, but still, that was weird. It's hard to tell what anything means. There are multiple local folks on the streets who say or yell things randomly due to having issues I wasn't phased but this dude was not someone I recognized, so I didn't immediately think he was just a local character who blurts things out...
