I thought it was a good movie, but nothing near Scorseses best.

I was going through his films with a friend today, and we felt Irishman barely sneaks into Scorseses own top 10. But its still good and has a few stand out awesome scenes. But its just a tad long and some of the improv scenes are awkward

The other night my gf wanted to check it out then I saw it was 3 and a half hours and I was like fuck that

I liked it but it kinda bothers me De Niro's character was in no way Irish except for name, he talked and acted like one of his standard Italian charcters, Obviously I wasn't expecting him to be some crazy irish guy with a thick accent and I know he's Irish-American but it kinda bugged me a bit. Nothing would have changed if you swapped his heritage.

its better if you take it as a 4 episode mini-series. Just watch an hour at a time and then take a break, then come back in a day or two.

De Niro was easily the weakest part of the film, sadly. Pacino, Pesci and Ray Romano stole the show, even with Pesci playing a quiet / reserved character. But De Niro was good as a narrator. I didnt know a whole lot about Frank Sheeran as a character so I didnt have a lot of expectations but he was clearly the weakest link
