On December.3, 1994, Sony entered the Console Wars as the alternative to Nintendo and was the beginning of the Company's rise to glory and kicked off a seismic shift that has earned a GUINNESS WORLD RECORD!

Playstation tweeted a photo of Sony CEO Jim Ryan and former CEO Ken Kutargi and wrote "We're thrilled to be certified as the best selling home video game console brand ever with over 450 illion units sold across the original playstation, PS2, PS4,".

The PS2 and PS4 were the top home selling consoles of all time with sales of 155 million and 102.8 million consoles while the original Playstation had 102 million and PS3 sold a disappointing 87.4 million.

The PS5 is on the horizon next Christmas and there's still life left in the PS4 before it ends it's run completely with the Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima

Not all was good news for the Playstation Brand as Sony just announced the end of the handheld market after killing off the Vita and PSP brand for good as the company has no plans to re-enter the market with Nintendo now the only dominant hand-held maker
