so the scientists that denounce global warming is trolling? This is classic gamefaqs mods decide what is right and wrong. If they don't agree with what you say, you get modded. citing data, facts, counter arguments, all mean nothing. and the liberal hivemind eats it up of course.

fun fact, in the 70s it was global cooling, then it became global warming and when that didn't stick we got climate change.

fun fact: they had to start calling it 'climate change' because idiots like our president would say "LOL global warming! look how cold out it is!" during the winter. and his idiot supporters would take it seriously.

is this aimed at me? because your link in the first sentence says:

Global cooling was a conjecture, especially during the 1970s, of imminent cooling

which was my point, in the 70s they called it global cooling.

Uh "global cooling" was not a scientifically backed idea in the 70s and "global warming" is still a very much alive and scientifically supported phenomenon.

The globe is warming, and this is where skeptics flip from "Not real" to "Yeah but the planet goes through warmings" or "Oh well can't do anything about it" and pretend no one notices.

Global warming is a trendy scientific political talking point

Global cooling is an actual scientific theory based on facts and trends

Yeah, its hotter now but the odds of that reversing into the next ice age of a millennia or so is high

And how do you plan to stop it? Grow your own food? Stop using electricity. Stop using transportation? Stop people from mining cryptocurrencies? Stop people from using heat in the winter? Stop population growth? The population was 990 million in 1800. It's only 8x that size today and everyone is contributing their share of C02.

Is his argument "Climent change is inevitable so what's the point in doing anything about it."? Cause that's a real shit take if so.

Our very deaths are inevitable. Eating healthy, exercise, all of this just delays it. Yet we still do it(or SHOULD be doing it at least).

So even if we can't stop it, I see no reason not to hold it off a bit.

The solutions are pretty clear.

  1. More Nuclear Fission power
  2. More Solar power
  3. Less everything else (coal, oil, gas, fracking, hydroelectric, etc)
  4. Decommission all ICE operated vehicles / EVs for everyone
  5. Stop deforestation

That's all.

I've always held the opinion that putting what amounts to a giant nuke outside every major city is a major gamble. It's like a person with a bee allergy keeping a bee farm. Yeah the suit will keep him safe for the most part, but all it takes is one little bee to slip in to do major damage.

Nothing is clear.

- Any damage to nuclear fission reactors would cause devastating environmental problems. Terrorism, anyone?

- Solar is inefficient and should only be combine with other types of power generation. In days like these, I can't even get enough sun to charge my motion detection lights. And try living in Alaska where they have 6.5 hours of weak-sun daylight in December.

- Heating in the winter. What is your solution? More warm blankets?

- EVs still use electricity. They just come from somewhere else.

- The planet have more trees today than it did 120 years ago.

Nuclear fission would solve all of the world's problems, but who would take the chance?

But also, a large section of the global warming sceptics claim silly things like there has been no significant warming for the last 20 or so years or even that we are closer to an ice age.

It's a little troubling that people jump to criticize nuclear power for safety reasons and not for reasons that the resource it uses is incredibly limited and would be depleted quickly in case of a global upscaling. Like, a few decades worth of quickly. We're not going to solve anything by investing in an energy source that is running out
