Would you classify septic shock as part of sepsis?

Say if a question were asked of what drug/agent X has in the role of sepsis, would you answer with what it does in septic shock?

Absolutely. It's acute organ dysfunction secondary to infection and sepsis with the classic presentation symptoms (hypotension, tachycardia, hypoperfusion, etc). There's a cascade of events within sepsis that leads to relative hypovolemia and vasodilation.

You'd need to eradicate the source of infection and start hemodynamic support. Antibiotics, vasopessors, etc.

Cool, cause all the literature/database research I have for Sepsis is putting up septic shock and I don't want to feel like a dumbass and failing my out of class final for answering the wrong question; drug in question is methylene blue

Yeah you'd be using that methylene blue as a sort of vasopressor to counteract nitric oxide (which causes vasodilation). Watch out for that serotonin syndrome though.
