I tend to give nicknames to my team and my team alone. Generally these days I nickname them alliteratively with the final evolution (so Incineroar became Inoki, Aggron became Agamemnon, Sceptile was Salvatore, etc.). HGSS I nicknamed them all "Big ___" (eg Crobat was Big Bat).

Team construction is one of my favourite parts of a Pokemon game to be honest.
