Im done. No more alt posting for me either. I started doing that because I felt my punishments were unfair, and it only provided me more of a chance to get more unruly.

I liked that Admiral would stand up for what he thought was right. I said this in a discord, but I felt like he would never get emotional. Actually to a point where it hurt him. Where he would post things that were offensive at times (and didnt notice because of this lack of emotional understanding). I think hes a good guy and I like his way of debating with aggressive posters, and Ive made the same damn mistakes he did (I think I get overly emotional instead).

still, making mistakes is about learning from them going forward. Ive tried to do that but fallen back in the same patterns and now Im just done doing it. I dont think he learned from the mistakes and took things too far.

its a shame it didnt work out for everyone. At his best, like myself, I think hes a good guy.

Everyone complains about unfair, inconsistent, and dubious moderations, and with good reason. They happen all the time. That being said, The_Admiral had more of those than all of us combined. I really have never seen anything like it. He would often get suspended over basically nothing even after his history cleared. The reasoning behind these offenses ranged from "muh feelings" to "we just don't like him." It seems disingenuous that the mods would profess their mercy towards banning long time users while at the same time docking him for every little thing they could think of over some stupid grudge that they had.

As far as his posting habits went, it's safe to say he brought more to a discussion than most of the leftists on this site do (which is usually zero, but still) since he was always prepared to defend whatever his arguments were. They always responded in a predictable fashion which was calling him a racist for no reason, because they can get away with calling all conservatives racist. One thing I never understood, and this applies to all conservatives on CE and not just Admiral, is that they are always FAR more civil to everyone else than those people deserve, especially the way they're always constantly harassed and attacked. That is a remarkable amount of patience. There are posters with nothing to offer but screeching, hatred, and insults, and yet Admiral and the rest would still respond to them as if they were an actual person with an opinion, albeit in an appropriately snarky kind of way.

By the time I became aware of Admiral as a poster, he already had his reputation as CEs Lucifer, the Fallen mod. I don't really know what his posting habits were like on other boards, but If I had to say anything about him it would be these two things.

First, I generally go to bat for the mods on GameFAQs because I think compared to some other sites we actually have a fairly balanced rules-based approach to determining what gets to stay and what doesn't. I know that endlessly frustrated people who wanted Admiral banned a long time ago for the ideas behind his posts rather than the posts themselves. Given that I would say that whatever caused him to finally be banned must have been an end of his own making.

Second, it seemed like most of the time people hand waved away what he was saying by just pointing out that it was Admiral posting it. Regardless of the actual subject of the topic or the content of the post. Which, even if everything said about him was true, is the sort of lazy non-response that you only get from bad faith actors. It also put him in a position where he couldn't even attempt to rebuild his reputation because even if he was talking about something unrelated to politics or race it would still get brought up.

So for better or worse, if he wanted to come back this is certainly a fresh start. The question is will he come back like frisbee, posting exactly what he used to in the way he used to so that everyone instantly knows who he is, or does he genuinely step away from controversial topics and build a new reputation that lets him participate in discussion? Or does he simply move on?

I don't know much about him but IMO this board needs more conservative posters because at least sometimes the discussions are worth posting in or reading. So much of CE is the same shit topics over and over again. The political ones are nice when they are good. The problem is that there are too many conservative alts posting stupid shit to troll that it drowns out the guys that are smart and honest about their politics and makes the people on the left just assume everyone is a troll.

So many people on this site think that anyone that questions any of the left's main talking points is automatically a brainwashed trumper trolling everyone. Instead of responding to content or discussing an issue it just turns into insults about fox news or Trump or whatever is popular on reddit that day. It would be nice if there were more genuine conservative posters so that more discussion could happen.

Don't know where you got that from, but banning and modding are two different things. The mods would be relentless and draconian in their enforcement and yet they (or at least the admins) let the older accounts stand.

Nice of you to put words in my mouth. I'm not saying conservatives don't do anything wrong, hell I myself do a lot of things wrong and will admit to most of it. It's just the disparity between the two is so enormous it's not even worth mentioning. Conservative posters have to be very careful about what they say, and even sometimes that's not enough. The fact that the mods are so lenient to left leaning opinions, and yet so many left posters STILL get banned gives you an idea of how bad it really is.
