Board 8 > Frozen 2 was okay (no spoilers)

The plot itself is, like, passable. Seems more like an excuse to get the gang back together.

The songs aren't as immediately iconic like Frozen 1's. Except for Kristoff's.

The direction they took with Olaf's character was...weird.

Absolute visual delight though, many of the scenes are gorgeous.

Well... (mild spoilers on his new outlook)
He begins thinking these 'deep thoughts', particularly about how things can change and he might not be ready for the changes. He's got a lot of kid-friendly philosophical musings.
I wonder if that's because the writers try to make relatable to the original Frozen's target demographic (very young girls) who are in their early/mid-teens by now and might have begun pondering about the world around them.

I loved it

there are way, way more songs this time around. The storyline is darker, a lot of actions scenes.

I think we found Frozen 2 to be around on par with the original, which is a good thing considering often Disney's sequel content has been a step down from the originals they're based upon.

It's pretty good. Kristoff is a standout here for sure, but I think every character from the original grew and was improved upon, which is again unlike Disney canon's most recent sequel in Ralph Breaks the Internet.

Before that I didn't even know it was out. In fact I had forgotten it existed. Considering how inescapable Frozen 1 was this doesn't seem to be lining up....I haven't even noticed merch in passing in stores.

Is this a case of the international being huge but the domestic being way worse than before?

Considering the first one was everywhere I don't see how that matters. I'm making a direct comparison here between how viral the two seem to be from the outside.

I feel like the first Frozen was incredibly under-represented in terms of merchandise. The proper set of dolls and legos etc. didn't come out until the following holiday season.

There was a lot more viral hype online, that's for sure. I think the online hype for this movie was fairly tentative and Frozen is a known commodity - it's not going to catch anyone off-guard.

Anecdotally, the kids loved this one. The adults I know say it's a "must watch in theaters" due to the visuals, and they think it's a good movie as well.

and yeah this is everywhere in stores online etc. I will admit I have a bias, I have 3 girls 7,8,10. I don't shop at Walmart so I can't tell you what they do, if anything. Target is crazy over the top with their Frozen stuff though.

Probably just wierd happenstance that the release seems like it practically didn't even occur in my area and in general social media presence.

Makes sense that it wouldn't have remotely the same online presence since people already know about it compared to the first, yeah.

I dunno what stores youre going to that havent had Frozen 2 merch out since like October or earlier. Toys, clothes, cups, food, etc. Its literally everywhere. Hell I knew who some new characters in the movie were before I even saw them in trailers because they had toys of them out.

I mean we were in Walmart a couple of days ago and there were at least 4 or 5 different displays for various Frozen II products.

We've had frozen 2 merch here everywhere for months.

I think people do forget the first Frozen actually took a couple weeks before it really exploded. It was really word of mouth that carried it more than marketing.

That was good fun

Kristoff's song was a swing and a miss for me though. Worst part of the movie. I know what it was trying to do and it may have done its job too well

The rest of it was a good heartfelt time. I liked it.

Like in Endgame where Gamora knees Starlord in the balls. They show the knee and everything but when Starlord says "you missed the first time, then you got em both the second time" or something it was silent

I originally thought the silence was the joke, like he was in too much pain to speak, but then I saw it on YouTube.

Thought it was pretty damn great. Songs are catchier from the first movie, but Id say this one is funnier even despite having a darker feel to it. Olaf is hilarious

Musically i was definitely not fond of kristoff's song, but the visuals and their narrative arc had me in tears. I was legitimately rolling in my chair laughing.
