31 y/o Brenda Song was DENIED an audition to be in the 2018 smash hit Crazy Rich Asians because filmmakers said she WASN'T ASIAN ENOUGH as her image was "too white" for mainstream audiences

They said her image was basically "not asian enough" as the former Disney actress said "A lot of people don'tknow this, but i never got to read for Crazy Rich Asians, ever. Their reasoning behind that, what they said was that my image was basically not Asian enough, in not so many words. I said, this Character is in her late to mid 20's, an Asian American and i can't even audition for it? I've auditioned for white roles my entire career but this specific role, you're not going to let me do it? You're going to fault me for having worked my whole life? I was like, where do i fit?"

She gave herself a pep talk about not worrying about it and said "I got myself together and said, Brenda, there is only one of you and you can't change who you are. You can't change your past"

She's been on shows such as Superstore and the Disney hit the Suite Life on Deck said she's grateful for every job she's done and can only remain positive as she continues to put out auditions meant for white girls and wants to represent more diversity for Hollywood and is happy to be part of the conversation when fans bandied her name for the role which ultimately went to Constance Wu

Song was last seen on Netflix's Secret Obsession and Hulu's Dollface

Brenda has fought hard to get Asian Representation in Hollywood as The Suite Life on Deck was her first major role that started her career as she's read parts meant for white actresses before impressing casting directors with her cheerful personality

Shes been dating Home Alone's Macauley Culkin for 3 years and are still together to this day

In a movie about crazy rich Asians, a ton of plastic surgery would fit right in. Every rich woman I've seen while living in Asia (about 4.5 years in Thailand, 1.5 years in China) has at least some plastic surgery done. There is a plastic surgeon right next to my school and there is a nonstop flow of patients, most of which are getting nose jobs.

Asked my Asian friend about this and he had a word to describe her that's not really offensive but would get modded on here for sure. The was word used in Harold and Kumar when Harold described himself uisng that term.
