Godzilla marathon on the Comet channel (via local and Sling TV). Rewatched Son of Godzilla for the first time in ages, and I thought that it did not sound quite like I remember. (I watched that on VHS many times as a kid, so it stuck with me.) So I looked it up, and I was right: The English dub that I watched back in the day is not the same one that is shown on TV nowadays.

Just read a Shazam comic featuring King Kid and all I can think is how the fuck is this a new character? This seems like a concept that should have been in DC ages ago.

Then I glanced at Inferior Five (I guess it's a new run of a concept?) which seemed interesting so I wiki'd it and... apparently it was a limited run that got an early cancellation. Instead of 12 issues, it only got 6.

Also, in general this has reminded me how short comics are =x I mean, the individual issues, not just the runs.

Watching the start of the women's royal rumble makes me want to start watching wrestling again. The version somebody uploaded to YT was otherwise choppy to the point of being unwatchable, unlike the WWE's normal product which has often been unwatchable because it has a lot of fluff.

I watch all the broadcast wrestling shows every week, and The Rumble last night held zero surprises, except MVP returning. MVP coming back was very nice. Edge was not surprising because he was medically cleared months ago. I also spent a good part of the PPV in the bathroom, from the end of the female Rumble to the beginning of the Male Rumble. The cabbage and cornbread did mor agree with my tummy, but it was so delicious.

If you are going to start watching wrestling again please start with NXT or AEW. The other 3 shows, except New Japan are okay or trash. (Impact is just trash.)

I actually knew he was going to be there, because about 6 hours in advance someone posted a picture to Twitter of them testing out the Titantron entrance videos, and showing his entrance with MVP in big letters.

Finally watching Ant-Man tonight, thanks to Disney+. 10 minutes and really digging it. This might be that super-rare Marvel movie I actually like instead of just thinking it's pretty good, okay, or worse.

Well, other than dragging in the middle when they explained the ant types and trained Scott, it was pretty great. I just regret spoiling some of the major fights before seeing it, since the Falcon cameo was fucking awesome, as was the big fight against Yellow Jacket. In fact, the only thing I *hadn't* seen was how Scott actually beat YJ, although they strongly foreshadowed that he'd be going ultra-tiny early on.

Continuity-wise, I'm just wondering when Scott first went Goliath since we see him with it in Civil War. I'm *guessing* it might have been intro'd in a previous film, probably Avengers 2 which I still need to see... and now I can, thanks to Disney+! May possibly watch that next instead of IW/End

I also checked out the first of the Ant-Man short cartoons, which is a decent concept. D+'s controls seem to suck, though, since there's no next button to bring you from one episode to the next.

I watches the big game last night and now football season is over. Unless you count the XFL. I could become a fan, but iI'? already so disappointed in the Dallas Cowboys that I don't need another bout of sadness in my life.

I really don't mind the Chiefs winning the Superbowl because it's not The Patriots again.

I feel the same way. Would have been okay with either team winning, but I do feel like the Chiefs deserved it a bit more after half a century since their last Super Bowl win. If they can do it, so can my Jets.

Will give the XFL a try. Not expecting anything great from Vince, but, hey, it's football, and I'd rather have an outdoor variant if one is available. Had too much fun watching the AAF last year to give this one a pass.

Was finally going to get around to watching Avengers IW/EG.... but then happened to go onto NFI for some reason and noticed that the new Bojack season was out so I started watching that instead.

Granted, this was after seeing the ERB with Thanos and then looking up some clips and inadvertently spoiling some IW/EG shit. Great ERB, though. Some catchy lyrics. Actually, the last few have been surprisingly good.

In other news, because Pokemon Go has online battling now, I finally started to play Let's Go! Pikachu. Re-post from other topic:

Finally started Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu (figured I'd put a hiatus on Shield which I started then got sidetracked) because I want some Meltan and, in addition to being impressed by the into, I'm a little stunned that the whole thing can be played with the Pokeball Plus. I hadn't realized that it could even be used to move your character. How wild is that?!

At any rate, absolutely loving the concept of once again being able to play one-handed... although there's no real practical benefit to it, particularly since the L=A benefit with some of the GBA-SP games was being able to play while on the go but you can't really do that with a Switch.

Watched Ant-Man and Wasp, which was also really great. I think these are are the only MCU films I've really loved (even the ending credits were great). However, the whole thing reminded me what a double-edged sword the MCU continuity is, considering that there's such a jump between AM1 and AM2 because you have things like CW in-between. And then, for the after-credits, I guess it correlates with Infinity War spoilers.

At any rate, one of the craziest moments in the film is when we finally see modern-day Janet and she takes off her helmet to reveal Michelle Pfeiffer. I was surprised since I was looking at her and thinking, "Wait, is that Michelle Pfeiffer? Damn, she's aged!" and then I was trying to remember the last time I saw her in a movie. Scrolling through her filmography, I guess the answer would be Dark Shadows (which, I suppose, makes sense since it's a Burton film) but I mostly just remember that movie for Johnny Depp's performance and after the fact because it had Chloe Grace Martinez or whatever from Kickass

Can't really tell by her wiki. She's been in 10 movies in the last decade, with another in post-production. The longest gap I see in the last 10 years is maybe 3-4 years, but she had 3 movies in the same year on that fourth year (technically 4, since she was in a tv movie as well -- The Wizard of Lies, starring Robert DeNiro as Bernie Madoff). Before that, she had another 3-4 gap in the 2000s that ended with 3 movies in the same year. She seems to work more consistently than a lot of actresses.

Just noticed that Disney+ even has X-Men: The Animated Series >_> Saw that it had Spider-Man Unlimited first, though. Had started looking at some of the other stuff because I saw a copy of Maze Runner on sale -- which I started watching one time and it looked interesting --- and then noticed it was connected to Fox (or, at least, I *thought* it was) and figured I might be able to just watch it on Disney+

Tempted to rewatch it soon although I remember that first episode having a lot of cringy moments the last time I rewatched it. In general, though, I kinda credit my love of Sentinels to the cartoon more so than anything else.

You might need to switch the episode order on X-Men, I seem to remember a hubub about episodes being in a batshit order on D+ that put them all kinds of out of order, especially on major story arcs.

Yeah, the episode order on the 90's X-Men is jacked up; as well as the 90's Spider-man too. I haven't checked in a few weeks to see if they fixed it yet with updates, but it's clearly out of order... badly.

Not sure if I should go see Birds of Prey.

On the one hand... I don't care and just want popcorn and a minimal amount of rockin' explosions to passively ignore while I drink a giant soda

On the other hand, the competition is two Best Picture nominees which might be intriguing and interesting and worthy of investment, but then I wouldn't be able to enjoy turning my brain off

Birds of Prey isn't bad. I mean, it's 2 hours of Margot Robbie shaking her ass in fishnets and booty shorts. If anything, I was surprised by how hot the chick that plays Black Canary is, she almost steals the show. My only minor complaint is it steals a bit from Deadpool, and these tiny gals beating the shit out of large muscular men is a stretch, but realism isn't what I was there for, lol.

It's not high art and anybody expecting that is a fool, but it's not bad for a popcorn flick.

I did finish the original Breath of Fire a few weeks ago, and I'm deep into Breath of Fire 2 now. I only play at dialysis to pass the time as I can't sleep like the others in dialysis. I think I might get the Grandia HD collection next for my dialysis play Sessions.

I beat that again like 5 few years ago. Using save states and whatnot really makes you realize how short RPGs were in the SNES days. I replayed the GBA version instead though.

Finally watched the new (well, it's getting close to a decade old) Tintin movie. It was surprisingly good, although parts of the ending were a little sketchy. Shame that a sequel seems absurdly unlikely, between the amount of time that's passed and the so-so box office return.

Speaking of things that seem unlikely due to the passage of time, I saw a display with the movie Trick 'r Treat (the long-delayed anthology one) and was reminded of the fact that its potential sequels have been in development hell for a long time now.

I think the creators are probably content milking merchandising money since the movie has become something of a cult classic (and, in all honesty, it was nothing special as far as anthologies go -- most of the hype came from repeated delays)

Yeah, if the dragons don't ascend to godhood in a BoF game, that's not the best ending.

The world of BoF revolves around Ryu. If Ryu isn't a god by the end, something went wrong.

That is not the best ending. You need to have all the fusions and all the Dragon equipment to get it. And you will know that you are on the right track if the final boss turns from a little girl into a Lovecraftian cosmic horror-looking thing.

I first saw that WAAAY back in the early 80s. No memory of what channel it was on. But I loved it.

Then in the late 90s, when the Star Wars Special Editions came out in theaters, they released a "Special Edition" version of it with deliberately shitty CGI graphics. I still have the VHS copy somewhere (I have like every VHS tape I ever owned in a couple of boxes in one of my rooms that I use for general storage - I've always wanted to go through them and transfer anything special or important over to DVD via a VHS/DVD transfer unit I bought like 20 years ago, but I've just never gotten around to it).

If anything, the most amazing part of it was that they actually got Paul Frees to do the voice-over narration for it. Everything else about it is so low rent, but he was actually famous at the time.
