Never Say Never Again isn't an official Bond movie.

For me, Diamonds Are Forever. They had to drag Connery back for that movie, and his lack of enthusiasm really dragged it down.

I don't count NSNA because it's not an official Bond movie, even though it's James Bond.

I always go back and forth between Diamonds Are Forever and The Man With the Golden Gun. I dislike them for the same reason: an anticlimax after a lot of buildup.

Man With the Golden Gun goes out of its way to make Scaramanga into Bond's perfect opposite. Then he gets shot in the back. Or shot as he's turning around. Same thing. And Diamonds Are Forever is the final appearance of Blofeld, chief villain of the series up until this point. And he's killed while trapped in a mini-sub. Bond doesn't even identify himself as Blofeld's killer. He thinks it's a crane malfunction.

I think Diamonds Are Forever is actually a little bit worse because Blofeld had more of a presence throughout the series. So dropping the ball with him is a bit worse than dropping the ball with Scaramanga; even if the the latter is played by Christopher Lee.

I recently watched DAD again and I honestly loved it. maybe Im just exhausted from the Craig era grit, but it feels like its having a lot of fun with all the craziest Bond tropes. Even if it does run a little long. >_>

Hard to pick between the Craig movies. That guy is a fucking trainwreck of a Bond. Too bad he doesn't have the guts to stick to his word when he says it's his last one. Again. And again.

Die Another Day is overstated.

I has a bit of casual racism, the villain doesn't make sense, there's an invisible fucking car that simply shouldn't exist in the Bond universe, and none of the characters can go two steps without making some kind of action movie quip.

It's in the bottom five for sure, but there are worse films. Tell me that Quantum of Solace was more enjoyable.

All these Die Another Day votes make me sad. Its easily a so-bad-its-amazing movie for me. The bad guy had a freakin space laser that he controlled from a wrist gadget on his Terminator exo-suit.

And the sword fight was legitimately badass.

For me it's between Diamonds Are Forever or Quantum of Solace. I voted Diamonds but it could've been either.

Diamonds is just horrendously bad, you can tell Connery doesn't care at all in this one, his lethargy for the character/ series really shows. The whole chintzy glitz and "glamour" of '70s Las Vegas doesn't really fit well with the Bond universe IMO. And while we're at it, the moon buggy chase has got to be one of the lamest chases in the series, which is really saying something. The only good scene in the whole movie is the fight scene in the elevator. And as someone already mentioned, Blofeld's demise was incredibly anti-climactic.

Quantum is just bad all-round. Feels like bad Jason Bourne knock-off. The opening car chase could've been really cool, but it was poorly edited, and the movie just goes downhill from there.

The Man with the Golden Gun is probably one of the more disappointing movies in the series, given the potential it had. If there's any James Bond movie I would be ok with being remade, it's probably that one. The car flip stunt was incredible, although sadly diminished by the dumb slide-whistle sound. At least the midget henchman Nick Nack, played by Herve Villechaize, was funny.

As I understand it, Die Another Day.

But I haven't watched that many. I've only seen the Connery movies and that one outing with Lazenby.

If I ever get around to it I expect Moonraker to be a bunch of malarky. You Only Live Twice had a rather stupid premise (just seemed like an excuse for Bond to go to Japan and stereotype their culture) but I thought it was at least watchable.

This.

I should love it because it's so dumb and absurd but it isnt fun at all.

Close second is QoS and spectre. I cannot stress what a terrible fucking misstep it has been to make Bond "serious and down to earth". CR and Skyfall manage to be good movies but still pretty lame Bond films because of it, so when the movies aren't good it is even more apparent.

Die Another Day is definitely the worst of the Brosnan era, but I don't think it's the worst of all time as so many people seem to.

The opening sequence is pretty damn good (then again, all the Brosnan Bonds have good opening sequences). I love the concept of Bond infiltrating North Korea to assassinate a rogue North Korean general, and then have him get captured and tortured for 16 months. Great concept. Unfortunately, the rest of the film falters after that. Feels like a really big missed opourtunity. Bond tortured in North Korea for 16 months, and then all he needs is a shower and shave and he's back to normal. They could have gone in an interesting direction with that, but totally squandered it.

The dialogue in most of the movie is painfully cheesy, the entire climax on the plane is horrendous, and of course the infamous CGI wind-surfing scene marks an all-time low for the series. Still, it's not all bad. I love Bond's escape in the beginning, blowing up the c4 in the diamond case using his watch, and then the ensuing hovercraft chase is great, if just for how unique it is. How many action movies use hovercrafts in any scenes? Off the top of my head, I can only think of Rumble in the Bronx. And as TC mentioned, the sword fight is surprisingly well done. Seems like both actors are giving it their all in that scene. There's other little bits and parts that I enjoyed, like when Bond knocks out the obnoxious jerk at the resort and pretends he's a patient to gain access to the clinic.

The invisible car...doesn't really bother me that much, but I can see why that was a "jump the shark" moment in the series for many people.

First half of Die Another Day is a solid 007 film and then it falls off a cliff with its over the top action fantasy set pieces.

Compared to the snorefest Moonraker, it's still mildly decent to watch and chill with. Quantum of Solace is also a chaotic bore to sit through.
