I did a bit of searching and didnt find anything to indicate Ghislaine wasnt directly invited. (Im pretty sure) She wasnt implicated in the 2008 Epstein stuff so she still had some plausible deniability at this point. Chelsea claims to have not known Ghislaine was involved until 2015

As an aside, the reason for the very rapid political shift starting in 2016 was not some rapid increase in immigrants gaining citizenship (note: it takes a fucking long time to get citizenship and not-citizens can't vote), but a realignment along lines of educational attainment. In other words, Trump being explicitly racist as fuck turned off college educated white voters, which is the primary reason why Virginia is now a blue state.

Trump did far better with Hispanic voters than Romney did. I haven't seen the stats for legal immigrants as a group but I would be pretty shocked if he did worse than Romney with that group. Anecdotally legal immigrants have a higher rate of Trump support than people whose families have been American for generations.

The NYT thesis is that people's votes are determined by their race and immigration status, and this is the thesis that was bought by the Republican Party in their 2012 postmortem. But this is the same thesis that was decisively rejected by Trump, who instead said that anyone could vote for him, regardless of race or immigration status (provided they can legally vote), and he actually campaigned for their votes. And he got way more votes from people of color and immigrants than Romney, and he won.

It's not minorities and immigrants who are turned off by Trump's rhetoric - it's white, educated, liberals (in the classic sense of liberal, not leftist).

there's empirical data on this - I've posted the chart before

the single biggest variables that correlates with "favorable view of socialism" in America is being foreign born. bigger predictor than race, gender, age, college education, anything. Immigrants are more likely to favor Democrats, completely and entirely independent of race or social issues.
