I start at the same time each day, but sometimes I leave early and sometimes I stay late (occasionally because I wound up not getting something done earlier in the day). Plus I take freelance work as well. Between the day job and freelancing, my work day can range anywhere between 7-12 hours (more than that is rare). Granted, there are workdays when I don't do much. I was having some serious tummy trouble and had a first class ticket to shit creek so I spent a little more time than I should've in the restroom. Thankfully, the seat was cold, my phone and headphones were charged, and it was a Friday before a holiday weekend (even though I personally didn't have Monday off) so the workload was a bit lax, but still. Basically I have to be available between 9-4 (minus lunch hour) Monday - Friday so that is my version of "half day Fridays". On Friday lunch I either go out to eat or run some errands. Monday - Thursday I just eat at my desk and work though lunch. It is admittedly a mess, but I get my 40 hours in all the same. --- I am a Contract Software Developer. What does that mean? But when reported, probably more than people think. Especially when it keeps getting reported. The problem is that no one wants to report. Could be for many reasons. Like they don't want to lose the job. Or don't know that the employer can't do that.
