I'm not a big Sonic fan, so maybe I just don't know the lore, but is Sonic actually considered an alien? I thought he was an experiment? Movie studios should have the leniency to explore new designs and stuff, especially in reboots - not everything has to be a shot-for-shot recreation of the source material. But the original Sonic design was just terrible, and I think it would have gone down in history as one of the worst-looking redesigns in history. This design is better for everyone. It's better for the adults who continue to age into even weirder, more stunted adults who can't let go of their childhood obsessions, and it's better for any kids who are seeing Sonic for the first time.
