Looking for others thoughts if they play

I was superlooking forward to the ps4 release for the fun trophies but I remembered I owned this on switch and have been playing a ton. Aside from Civ 3 all the editions have had more improvements than letdowns. Some thoughts so far

-I like that traders are road builders now, building roads was a pain until Civ 5. Then it was fine but ridiculously time consuming

-I kinda hate that Builders, the worker replacement, are 3 uses and gone. It slows everything down to a crawl for city development especially early game when they take ages to build

-Happy units dont die immediately, it gives combat some weight. Was shocked that scouts can actually hold a little fight in them now.

-Barbarians are worse than ever, and they no longer have a setting they are just swarming endlessly regardless? what?

-City states seem so much better, they were awful in 5 and never worth dealing with

-Havent seen any of the whacky Civ 5 religion overpowering your areas. In that game you literally could lose cities to a rival empires religious movement

-I love that you build some buildings and wonders outside the city. Usually requires a useful tile sacrifice. Even cooler you get to see it built up

-Dealing with rival empires still isnt great and at times nonsense. its the one thing after 6 games that I just wonder why they cant figure out.

-This is the first civ ive seen since maybe 2 where other Civs that are supposed to be hostile actually come at you even when the games in ancient era or they are unprepared. I actually LOST a game where Egypt just hated me so much they dedicated their existence to wiping me out.

I really like 6 from what I've played. I own it on Switch. I'm definitely fetching the expansions once they're out for it.

Barbarians are really bad in Civ 6 for some reason. You HAVE to be aggressive and kill scouts and destroy camps before they get out of hand. Be sure to have vanguard outside of your borders to kill scouts asap, if they "see" your civilization and report it back to their camp, you'll get a bunch more barbarians.

I've played a whole bunch of Civ 6 and become a Deity-level player, though I've been taking a long break recently.

There should still be a raging barbarians setting, but yes, even "normal" barbarians are amped up a bunch compared to Civ 5. I've never found them that hard to deal with, but you absolutely need to devote resources to killing scouts on your borders and clearing nearby camps early on before they simply overwhelm you.

This also ties in with my previous point: builders shouldn't be your first priority early on. It's much more important that you build warriors, and perhaps a slinger or two, to defend your civ, a few settlers to start expanding early when cities matter the most, and early monuments/districts. Early improvements provide yields no stronger than appropriate terrain, while the changes to happiness mean you no longer need to worry about improving luxuries before your early expansion. These changes place an even greater emphasis on your starting location than in Civ 5; in particular, you want a capital with high early production and some semblance of growth, rather than the other way around in Civ 5.

Yup, the AI's been improved all around compared to Civ 5, but especially in terms of early bloodlust. If you have a close neighbor (within ~10-20 tiles depending on the leader), you have to prepare for the inevitable invasion, or else resign yourself to an early loss. It's still not great, but it's progress.

Played the base game and Rise and Fall on my brother's computer. Looking forward to getting the game and Gathering Storm on PS4 since it was announced. It's the first Civ game I've played, so I can't compare it to earlier games. Never had a problem with barbs, though.

I actually really like this, though I only cranked things up to Prince. I can see how it would get annoying as heck on higher difficulties.
