Police work is considered boring and if someone with a higher intellect is employed in it there is a huge risk that they will simply quit to look for something more stimulating. There was even a guy who sued his local police force because they admitted that they were not going to hire him because he was too smart, and the courts affirmed that they could legally discriminate based on intelligence so he lost his case. --- Que sera, sera.
