Basically the bible in a nutshell.

Yup. Multiple times. It can be distilled down to 'We are all sinners but God sent Jesus to die for us so that we may be redeemed and have the chance to go to heaven after we die; but we have to accept Jesus into our lives and live in a good and godly manner by doing so to be saved.' As well as 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you', 'unconditional love, caring, and kindess', and the classic 'ten commandments'.

However that's lying saying that LotR is 'about two potentially gay midgets throwing a ring into a mountain to save the world' with 'something about a fellowship and an elf and a dwarf fighting orcs on the side'. Or Harry Potter is 'About a boy who learns special magic happens when he waves his wand around and the series ends with his friend beating a snake'.

Actually, I read it more like "immature temper-tantrum god becomes jealous of other gods, sends his best friend to hell, sends a minion to rape a human woman so he has a sort of 'son' he can put to death by torture as an elaborate joke on his worshippers that he had been stringing along for thousands of years as his Chosen People". Pretty good deal for clergymen, if you have a god you can't trust, why should you be surprised by what priests do?

Ummm... Wow. That couldn't be more wrong. Like, it couldn't possibly be more wrong. Using LotR again it's like claiming Sauron is the good guy because the orcs are just a peace-loving race discriminated against by the evil imperialist elves. Or using Harry Potter again that Hagrid is a transexual black man who looks and talks suspiciously like Will Smith.

I can prove there is no god.
There is a slight problem though.
If I prove there is no god, I invalidate the beliefs of many humans.
Existence is based on belief/thought/awareness.
Doing so could easily cause the universe to cease to exist.
Therefore, logically, we must not disprove the existence of god, in order to continuing existing ourselves.

I mean, I wouldn't go that far. SOME rational thought went into creating the bible. While it does contradict itself a few times, and a few things (after being translated) make little sense, for the most part it is a fairly logical document as long as you agree with a basic premise.

No. You can't. It's impossible to prove a negative. You can prove, say, that society, culture, and rational thought can exist without the Bible as a moral framework but you can not prove that God does not exist. It would be like trying to prove someone doesn't exist by calling their cell number, getting no answer, and using that as proof that they don't exist. This is especially true since disproving the judeo-christian god does *not* disprove the existence of a deity or deities; especially since said deities may not even be concerned with Earth on the whole and may be the pantheon of a species located sixty galaxies away.

Not saying it's wrong to be atheist; but saying that there is no such thing as a deity or divine being is just as dogmatic and religious a statement as saying that there is.

Also, seriously? The Bible being the opposite of the basis for rational thought? Yea. You're an idiot with no knowledge of reality and probably think you are, somehow, smarter and more intellectual simply due to your lack of belief despite being little more than an edge high-school/college graduate.

Yea. It's completely independent of religion; be it atheism or theism. Science can tell you the formula for force and stuff but there is no math formula or experiment or anything, at least for now, that touches upon the realm of the divine. Even if we got some Jesus DNA somehow all it could do is tell you the various compounds and what-not. It couldn't tell you if he was or was not divine. Even if we found something in his DNA that science couldn't identify it wouldn't prove divinity; just that science currently doesn't know what it is.

Hell, if tomorrow the rapture happened and everything unfolded exactly as it did in revelation science's answer would be more in line with 'there is a giant beast over there with ten heads over there with the following physical dimensions' than 'the end times come and repent for the beast walks the earth!'

To phrase this another way - it is irrational to base any beliefs merely on the scientific method - science relies on observations to work, so you would also need to establish the credibility of your observational apparatuses (e.g., eyes and ears) without referent back to "science"
