Most likely non related events. Your card probably got skimmed at a gas station or restaurant.

uh no, credit cards are safe to use because its not your money, debit is dangerous though

eh. your bank is legally required to cover fraud losses even on bank cards AS LONG as you report the fraud in time (in this case they might have caught it since its overseas)

either way you should be protected, but its simpler with credit cards.

Make the switch to credit, if someone nabs your information you at least don't have cash taken directly out of your bank account

thats good. preauths are just holds on the funds (scammers prob trying to check balances indirectly) they will just cancel the auth and the funds go back as available in a day or two.
