So this twitter account called No Context Gaming in the Clinton Years has started posting clips of reviews by this dude called George Wood and they are all together hilarious and super nostalgic. The guy's gaming opinions are so fuckin absurd sometimes and the shit he feels strongly about is weird. The shit is highly quotable. I guess it's better to see it through the lens of the twitter account than going through any of his actual review videos which are a bit tedious.

He has a penchant for hating games that are either too easy OR too hard, telling people that the only way to win a game is to get a guidebook, and for championing Bubsy as the greatest action game ever made.

Highly recommend if you haven't seen any of the stuff.

Well they did a couple DnD-like episodes and so I piggybacked from that to the Let's play 13th Age podcast (which is now just one part of a podcast series called 6 Feats Under) which is a campaign run by Ironicus who was the guest on those retsutalk episodes. So I was able to transition into other enjoyable content. And I love it when Beef randomly pops up in Rooster Teeth content.

i don't think most of the retsupurae people (including slowbeef) are all that funny tbqh. slowbeef kind of seems like an arrogant douchebag, really. as much as i love a lot of classic retsupurae stuff, it kinda rubs me the wrong way that the whole reason it started in the first place was because slowbeef went "how dare other people steal my let's play idea i'm going to utterly bash them into the ground and humiliate them with my friends."

diabetus, however, is hands down the funniest internet celebrity out there and he single-handedly makes retsupurae worth watching. i died laughing when he did his george wood impersonation at the end of the one where they riffed on george wood's earthbound review.

It was more about mocking Unregistered Hypercam 2 and people using literal camcorders on their TVs than "you stole my idea!'

eh, i dunno. it did seem like they always went after easy targets (i.e. small channels). like, they never went after sirronlionheart and game grumps, even though they're fucking terrible. if your goal is to mock awful let's players, why not do them? (though slowbeef did say he hated game grumps once in a youtube comment.)

really? i remember back in the day, i always wanted them to do sirron but i don't recall seeing an episode on him. i stand corrected, then!

i guess my point is moot anyway as they also did pewdiepie and markiplier. though those were "adults react to..." videos rather than traditional RP episodes.

But they LITERALLY did a SirRonLionheart video.

And the collective fan base of SiRon (myself included) shredded them because they didn't seem to understand that he was doing a bit the whole time or that the video was infused with inside jokes. I believe it was a Majoras Mask episode they covered.

I can see where it has come off as unnecessarily cruel at points, but for the most part they steered away from that and even apologized in a couple of instances when they felt they went too far.

So thats a pretty hard disagree from me.
