My friend is a Filipino who lives in the Philippines. Two years ago he assaulted his mom and broke her wrist and gave her a black eye but only used his weak left hand. My friend is a five foot 4 190 lbs fat weakling.
My friend mother decided not to press charges but he had to spent 8 months in a psychiatric hospital.

My friend and his mom got into an argument regarding his daily cigarette money which is $2.00
His mom asked him how much he smoked and he said seven. He asked for more money for cigarettes. My friend didnt get any money and got mad and kicked the door several times with his weak foot. His mom said she felt threatened hearing the door kicked and threatened my friend with jail time from the incident of giving her a black eye and broken wrist from punching her with his weak left hand.

There is a statute of limitations on how long after you can be charged with a crime. I don't know what it is in the Philippines.

not sure how the statue of limitations work in your country but it has to be reported right away (when the actions occurred). stuff like murder doesn't' have a statue.

though this is only information i know, others may know more.

Depends on the crime, the laws and how long time that have passed.

What's the statute of limitations on the crime in the area it occurred? I know where I live, most misdemeanors have to be charged within a year or two max and that's supposing the police/ prosecutors even believe they could have an actual case that'd be able to make it to trial.

I typed in Google "statute of limitations assault Philippines" and it said eight years. I assume you'd have to have evidence and actually reported it at the time, plus if he went to a psych unit he might be able to plead insanity.
