Elm Street definitely has the most quality sequels of any long running horror series to me. Freddy and the dream sequences helped keep many of the sequels fresh and creative where many of the other series started to feel formulaic by their respective 3rd & 4th sequels.

Scream is a short but consistent series. I don't think there's a bad Scream film, but you can feel some sequel pangs in S3. I think it's the rare series where 2 is better than the original, and also a rare series where a sequel came out after a long gap and still managed to be good.

The first three Living Dead films are a near perfect trilogy. The remake of Dawn also manages to be pretty good. The latter 2000s output though is pretty bad all around. Evil Dead benefits from each film feeling entirely different from the last, but this is also a pretty short and weirdly developed series with a sort of false start and the parodic, self-reflexive sequel. Not a fan of the 2013 film. If you count the TV series in this though I would rank it above Living Dead.

Halloween is honestly just a chore to try and watch all the way through, and so is Friday the 13th. Pretty much any Halloween from 3 on to the remake is a slog. I've warmed up to the remake a little bit as its own thing, but the "remake" of 2 is horrid. However, last year's Halloween was easily one of the best. F13 is just hilariously bad in the latter half. Alien is just not good after Aliens. Saw and FD are mostly bad series with pretty good death scenes.

Paranormal Activity just fucking sucks. Not a single good film here.

I really didn't expect to say this coming in, but seeing the list I think it's handily Evil Dead.

Every other series on here has somewhere between 1 and 3 actually good movies and then just a ton of really bad sequels. Evil Dead is actually entirely quality movies, and yes, I'm including the remake in that! (Guess it has the advantage of not having more than those few good movies compared to some of the sprawling franchises in the poll... but still, lol.)

Jaws is 10 times the horror series Alien is. Don't get me wrong, the first Alien is one of the best horror films of all time, but considering the rest of the series is about as far from horror as possible, I don't think it counts.

I'm all for replacing it with something like Childs Play.
