Dailymail has revealed that 20 y/o Chan Tong-Kai was the man who inadvertently triggered the Hong Kong protests that have caused massive city chaos between Beijing and Hong Kong...he is the man who MURDERED his PREGNANT girlfriend in TAIWAN and now has agreed to return to the island to face justice after he escaped to Hong Kong to avoid prosecution because Hong Kong and Taiwan do not have an extradition agreement...

He fled back to the southern Chinese City because he knew taiwanese police wouldn't be able to apprehend him

Both he and his girlfriend are Hong Kong born citizens but this case is what triggered an ill-fated proposal by Hong Kong's pro-Beijing government to ram through a sweeping extradition bill which would have allowed the city to extradite suspects to any territory, including mainland China and Taiwan

That sparked massive public backlash with record breaking crowds, particularly with the youth

The protest have snowballed as a movement that seeks greater democracy and police accountability as protesters are demanding Carrie Lam to step down and to break free from mainland China for good and have even asked President Trump to step in.

As for Chan, his tumultanous chain of events has indicated he's willing to be sent back now for prosecution as he's currently serving a jail sentence inHong Kong after he was convicted of stealing his gf's possession during trial

He is due to be released next week as theoretically he CAN'T be charged with a homicide in the city since it happened in Taiwan

Revered Peter Koon has visited him in prison and said Chan is now willing to return to Taiwan willingly and said "I believe he will keep his word"

Taiwan maintains the death penalty but Koon thinks Chan is unlikely to receive that if he voluntarily surrenders and has expressed great regret for the victim's familiy and sorry for causing all this trouble

Thousands of protesters have formed human chains at multiple subway stations and have worn masks such as winnie the pooh and joker which have been a target of China

Do you think this Kid should face justice back in Taiwan or be free in Hong Kong?

I don't like the answer I gave, but the other two are legally very problematic.
