Oo makes sense why II went free, now. Guessing it's permanently free.

I still haven't played II ^_^;;

Yeah and they added shit to unlock shit for 3. Paradox is really starting to burn my good will toward them.

I like angry Blondie

But Paradox is pretty scummy either way. I wonder if they'll keep the policy that all DLC should be independant and we have garbage optimization again

The steep learning curve and owning none of the DLC and feeling like I might miss out if I don't have it all is why I haven't started.

They added in-game challenges, called The Monarchs Journey, that unlock some hairstyles and hats in 3.

They've clearly paid attention to Collassol Order, who paid too much attention to TF2

Oh, that seems minor tbh

I just started CKII for the first time last night after hearing the announcement. The tutorial sucks.

Newer Paradox games doesn't even bother with the tutorial. Hearts of Iron III had the best just for sheer comedy of how it ends. Spoilers: Hitler's the tutorial giver. But yeah, use the official wiki.

1066. Play in Ireland. My memory is foggy, but the best one is the Count of Dublin, since he's the eldest son of the elderly Count of Leinster? just south of him, so you'll wind up with an additional county in short order. Ireland is very fractured in 1066(and Scotland and England won't bother you for a while, probably a long while), so even with just two counties, you'll be one of the bigger fish and can work on getting a handle on things. It takes time.

This is accurate. The British Isles have been called "Tutorial Islands" specifically because they're so isolated that you don't have to deal with all of Europe.

I'm gonna do what I always do and advocate against using Ireland as the tutorial, on the grounds that it's just so boring that it can potentially turn new players off of the game. Play as Matilda of Tuscany instead.

See if any of your friends have CK2 and the DLC. When playing online any player gets to use all the DLC the host has. Although I think CK2 is one of the games where the DLC is less meaningful. You can't be Muslim and Christian at the same time after all, or a nomad and feudal character at the same time.
