What do these numbers mean?

The first set of numbers before the game is just the game id. A way for them to look up what it is you are wanting to bet on.

The second set of numbers is the moneyline value he is getting. When you dont see an indicator that the team is getting or giving extra points it means it's a money line bet and it just means they need to win outright. These numbers when negative are how much you need to out up to get $100 back. So for example game 2 you need to risk 1200 to get 100 winnings on top. If the number is positive it means how much you would get based on a 100 bet

I remember when I was explaining how betting works to my mom during my Vegas trip, and to illustrate how favoured the Pats were I said how the (NHL) Blues were like, -300 favourites over the Senators which was considered a very heavy favourite by NHL standards... and the Pats were -1500 against the Giants, lol. Good times.

I don't like you missing the half point on the Seahawks there, something about that half point is a real blanket of security... also maybe this is when the Bengals finally win!

Wait, so you need to RISK $1200 for the possibility of winning $100?

Is that right? Why would anyone do that?

Because it is such an overwhelming favorite it is often free money.

But in my case I parlay a few heavy favorites into one pick to get better odds.

You kind of have to offer it as an option. You cant just say you can bet on this team to win but not the other team.

But no one ACTUALLY does it except in parlays like Chris.

Thats right. It shows you that this is such a heavy favorite that it doesn't make sense for the bookies to give you any good value on it. It shows you its seen as a lock, and why a straight/ moneyline bet is usually saved for a parlay bet. When it's that big of a favorite and you want to bet them but have a better risk/reward you would take the spread. In this case it would be something like -14 but the value would be closer to even money. Meaning that you would have to win by more than 14 points but you would get even value on your bet

So I was watching Vandy/Missouri live and at half time they were giving me 2-1 on Vandy winning.

So Chris won 800 dollars.

But... but they were winning at halftime. And the odds were still that good?

okay I just saw the line that had been on the game, wow.

My big win in Vegas before my most recent visit was doing a parlay on 9 heavily-favoured NCAA football teams to win, all playing at home and favoured by two touchdowns or more. Came through and paid out 3 to 2 so that was nice.

Yet it shows you nothing's perfect since Mizz was favoured by three touchdowns, even if playing on the road, damn...

It's a great way to lose money because youre eventually wrong.

I mean ultimately it's your money and you'll do what you want but I've seen this addiction destroy people and think its important to voice that just in case it's something you need to hear.

Ahh i get it. But i am oddly addiction averse. Bankroll was established ahead of time and i am using winnings. So worst if i am wrong i break even.

If you have a bankroll set up and you can stick to it, sports gambling is a ton of fun and you can make money from it. There's at least some level of skill you can use from knowledge of sports to give yourself as much of an edge as possible, as opposed to something like playing most casino games where you never really have a chance.
