Do you think you save enough toward your retirement? Do you think you'll be able to retire when you reach the age?

Hahahahahhahahha... No. :(

I've never been much for future planning. Parents have told me that as well as being the executor of their will that I'll also be getting the bulk of their money when they die. Father worked hard and managed to put a way a very large sum for his retirement. More than they will spend. I'm just sort of counting on that.

My youngest sibling is in the will for a single dollar. Because he feels so entitled that he gets mad at them for "spending his inheritance". He doesn't know this yet and they will put him back in they notice a change in his attitude. But I don't expect that to happen.

I have 0 saved so far. I would be better off dying young than seeing what my retirement is going to look like

My wife has 5k in her 401k at this point. She's not great off but further ahead than I am

I maxed out IRA contributions for the year and contribute enough to my 401k to get the company match. It spooks me how financially illiterate some people are. I'm not even super literate, I just read a few articles.

I was talking about it recently with some people (really they let me give a general explanation and asked questions). The first offender is the woman I'm sorta dating. She doesn't contribute anything to her 401k because she doesn't like having less money in her paychecks and she doesn't know she'll live that long.
@_@

Everyone else didn't say much except, "Wow, you sound really grown up. I just do what HR told me to do." Which is probably fine. HR should understand the company's 401k plan and how much to contribute.

If everything goes according to plan, I should be able to retire by the time I hit 45. Chances are though I'm going to continue working until at least my 50's.

I'm saving more for retirement than the average person.

That said...no, not even close. Especially if Social Security is drained like it probably will be.
