I smoke weed almost every day(generally at night when work and errands are over). I drink a couple times a week too, but its generally a glass or two of something nice, not to get drunk. at most a buzz, but mainly for the tastes, flavors, and product research as I work in a liqour store.

My employer does "random" drug testing too, and if you are caught driving at any time with any alcohol in your system, even if you're under the legal limit, you'll lose your job instantly.

My parents smoked, so I grew up finding it absolutely disgusting. I've smoked a couple times (a cigar once or twice, a pipe once), but I never got anything out of it. To this day I still find the smell of cigarettes repulsive, and I tend to dislike people who smoke by proxy. That disdain also sort of extends to people who vape.

I experimented with a couple different types of drugs in college, but nothing ever really did much for me. Especially since by that point, I was already drinking, and alcohol was far more convenient and more effective (in the ways I wanted it to be) than anything else. Weed being illegal was just the cap on it - I never really felt the need to try and go out of my way to get it because it didn't appeal to me all that much in the first place. Especially since a lot of the problem I have with cigarettes apply to weed as well (with the added negative that stoners tend to stink far worse than tobacco smokers). It also didn't help that most actual stoners I knew were complete idiots.

I've been drinking alcohol for decades, though. I tend to be a happy, energetic drunk, so I've never had a problem with it. I've never once had blackouts or the sort of memory loss people always associate with getting drunk, so that's a plus as well. And for most of my life, I could pretty much drink until passing out and still never have a hangover the next day (I'm starting to feel it more now as I get older). Most of my friends drank as well (and were equally cool about it), so it added to social situations. Now that I'm older I don't really drink as much (maybe once a month or so, always in social situations - I almost never drink alone, and never really have). I'm really fussy about what sort of alcohol I drink though - I generally hate beer, and mostly stick to bourbon or whiskey in general).

To be perfectly honest, my drug of choice is basically caffeine. As per the caffeine topic the other day, I probably drink about 300-350mg of caffeine every day. I "need" it to wake up in the morning, and I absolutely show addiction behavior when I run out (planning inconvenient store trips if I run out, getting sluggish and irritable if I'm forced to go too long without, etc).

I quit smoking 9 years ago. Haven't touched weed in 19 years. Last time I drank any alcoholic drinks, it was about 5 years ago.

I work for UPS. Management for the Feeder department, so I deal with tractors/trailers. Our drivers are the same way though. If you get pulled over with any alcohol in your system you're fired instantly. You can drink, you just can't get caught drinking and driving. I have to Uber or use a DD whenever I go out.

Can't smoke weed, alcohol withdrawal has turned me off, so I only do cigarettes.

Weed is like a shitty coin flip, too easy to have a bad trip for me. The times it worked for me were amazing, I watched "The Pot" Tool music video high and I remember it being the coolest thing I've ever seen. I tried it again and it just freaked me out for 5 hours.

Weed doesn't have to be laced to cause someone to have a "bad trip". It's simply a fact that weed causes anxiety and paranoia in some people. It can also exacerbate certain mental problems. It's a beautiful and wonderful thing, but nothing is perfect.

I've gotten paranoia from weed a few times but I can power through it.

yeah but 5 hours is way too long, when I used to smoke I was high for like an hour so, more like he mellowed out but was still having anxiety attacks.

Paranoia isn't the same thing as a "bad trip" though. That's a phrase people usually use to describe psychedelics.

Also even the absolute best stuff I've gotten has never lasted 5 hours.

Well that can be one fun thing about anxiety and paranoia... The actual drug may wear off after a couple hours and still leave the person freaking out for several more. Especially people with certain mental health issues.

Not that I'm saying it couldn't have been laced, because that sure does happen. That or mixed with synthetic weed, which is the frigging worst.

It must have just triggered a psychotic episode for me, because I was not ok mentally for at least a month. And it happened twice with stuff that was not laced, because it only happened to me and none of my friends, and it was from an official repository. It was also really low in THC.

I was legitimately off the fucking walls insane. I was about to call 911 on myself so I didn't hurt anyone. I was holding on to threads of control I had, and I wasn't going to be very nice if I lost control, let's just say that.

So yeah, weed is off the table for me, and I am incredibly thankful that I will never have to be in that state again.

I didn't drink alcohol until I was 21, and the only reason I did it then was because a really hot girl I was dating at the time liked to drink. The things you'll do for V.

Never tried weed or cigarettes.

Cigarettes have always been disgusting. Absolutely no desire to ever try them. My mom and exstepdad were chain-smokers. My brother had asthma and they still insisted on smoking all the fucking time. Long rides in the car? Cold winter day? We'd use the sleeves of our winter coats as hoses around our nose and mouth to try and filter the smog a bit.

I hates those years of my life. The subtle child abuse. Stepdad saw in the rear view mirror that we were miserable. Choking. He didn't care. Just grunted. Mildly amused. Sadistic look in his eye. He'd light up another as soon as the last was finished.

I hated that man so much. So much.

Weed was for a similar reason. Smoky. Gross. Unfiltered. My lungs were abused enough in my youth.

Plus....there was the 'culture' around pot smoking.

The people that did it......relied heavily upon it in order to have fun or just relax.

The dependence on the substance was kinda unnerving.

I also hated that potheads only liked hanging around other potheads.

If you didn't smoke weed with them...you were a non-entity in their eyes. Really condescending and annoying.

Psychotic episode was exactly what I was thinking but I wasn't gonna presume. Haha. Weed is incredibly good at causing and exacerbating psychosis. Especially for people with bipolar or schizophrenia.

I was using awfully high doses of edibles for a while and I'm pretty sure it was one factor among many that left me psychotic for about a year. But hey, at least I found out I'm bipolar and got lithium and now my mental health is better than it ever was and I can still enjoy weed. :P

I have asthma from cigarettes also... and studies suggest that cigarette smoke increases the odds of developing multiple sclerosis. Thanks, chain smokers!

I started drinking when I was 25. Had a drink each year until this past New Years when I stepped it up. Been drinking more in the past six months than I ever have, but only with friends and family.

I don't smoke, but my family and friends do. I don't mind and sometimes sit nearby when they do, just to talk and enjoy company.

1. Almost never drink. I've been legal age to drink for more than half my life (I'm 43 now), and the number of go-rounds I've had with alcohol since my 21st birthday I can count on one hand.

2. Weed...nope, negative, no way Jose.

3. Cigarettes...also negative. A habit that played a role in the deaths of my grandfathers and nearly ruined my dad's health (he quit smoking before I turned 7).
