Would you rather date a person half your age or double your age? - Results (4 votes)
Half your age younger. Might be creepy but the relationship will last longer.

Double your age. They might not live as long but it's less creepy.

I'm young enough that I'd be dating a pre-teen or something so older.

I'm so old that I'd be dating an unreasonably elderly person, so younger.
0% (0 votes)

Same as that OTHER topic but with poll options that are actually reasonable. Seriously, three times your age? For a lot of people they'd be dating corpses! Course, since the 'creepy' rule typically goes 'half your age plus 7' it will always be 'creepy' for the first option but never for the second if you abide by that rule.

Edit: To clarify, this only means DATING! Sex does not need to be involved and you can wait till they're older if need-be.

Half my age is legal. Its still gross and Id probably have nothing in common with her unless she was abnormally mature like this 19yo girl I know who is more of an adult than Ill ever be lol

Dunno. A 36 year old would be okay, I'm much younger than my chronological age anyway.

But, wow, a 146-year-old that was a kid in the 1880s, what stories they could tell! They might have even seen the Buffalo Bill shows and could critique my gun spinning and trick shooting.

I'm almost 36 years old. At least the 18 year-old will be legal. Jokes aside, between an 18 year-old versus 72 year-old, we'll still be worlds apart in terms of general life experiences and whatnot. Not sure who will have values I can find more relatable.

I see. I only read the topic title. The title actually seemed like a semi reasonable scenario. I thought someone was just providing a much more likely follow up to that ridiculous three times your age question. I should have known something was wrong.

Well, originally it was half your age younger or older. But then I realized that basically everyone would pick the latter so they wouldn't seem like a pedo (despite it being anon) simply because half your age wasn't old enough to really be a debate to most people. I mean, if you're 30 it's a choice between a 15 year old and a 45 year old. While dating a couger might not appeal to most people I'd wager 90% of people would pick that over seeming like a creep. But since it was late I forgot to change the title.

Probably the 18 year old. As youre only 18 years apart, rather than 36. Not to mention, things have probably very much change from when the 72 year old was doing things. She grew up in a very different time. That being said, while you did grow up in a different time from the 18 year old, some things may not have changed as much. Plus, going into the future, you both would probably know how to work most of the current technology...

Pssst, half your age older would be 54, not 72.

Edit: Wait, so what is it- double your age or half your age older? The title reads as half your age younger or half your age older.

Alright, misread it. Half would be 36, so younger would still be 36, older would be 109, my grandparents' generation, not quite as interesting, but still some good stories to tell. Twice my age would be more fun.

Half my age is 21. If someone's old enough to drink, they're old enough to date (even if we might not have a ton in common, and they'll be annoying millennials).

Half my age older is 63, and double my age is 84. Either way, I'm not interested in dating senior citizens.

Definitely older. In fact, I've pretty much already done that before.

I'm gradually reaching the point where I could theoretically be okay with the "half younger" option, but not quite there yet, and it would still take someone particularly mature for their age.

Same answer applies whether the OP meant "twice your age" (which would mean 66) or "half your age older" (which would mean roughly 50), since that part was unclear.

Plus, by their mid 30s they either aren't a lot of fun (obsessed with their careers and/or hearing their biological clock ticking after a few friends have kids) and the ones that are fun are likely hot messes all around.
