A family in Texas is seeking justice after a 15-year-old girl rescued from sex traffickerscommitted suicide over the weekend.

Letty Serrano, who was abducted in 2017, locked herself in a bathroom at the familys Houston home and killed herself Saturday, FOX26 Houston reported. Her father, Mariano Serrano, told the station how he had desperately tried to reach her before it was too late.

She died in my arms, Serrano said.

Letty Serrano was abducted from her school in 2017 when she was 13 years old

Lettys family described her as a good girl before her abduction near Marshall Middle School, in North Houston, at age 13.

She was a good student, good grades, quiet, kind of a loner, and her brother had just passed. She was a perfect target for them, Cynthia Rivera, Lettys godmother

Following her rescue, Letty appeared broken and addicted, Rivera wrote on Facebook, calling the road to recovery one of the hardest things for the child to overcome.

Lettys father told the station he believed his daughter couldnt get over being away from the man who took her. She ran away from home twice to be with the man, who had been arrested and then released days later, the family said.

"It's a very familiar story, unfortunately," Micah Gamboa, executive director of Elijah Rising, a nonprofit organization in Houston dedicated to ending sex trafficking through prayer, awareness and intervention

Gamboa claimed there are thousands of trafficking victims in Houston alone, with over 300,000 in Texas.

Rivera has urged the community to come together and ask the city council to tear down abandoned "drug houses" where she said Letty was found.

Following her death, Houston Police Department Vice Division Commander Jim Dale has called for the case to be reopened.

She was a victim and somehow her cries fell through the cracks and I think thats why its so imperative that we get the schools involved,

A cause of death has not been released.

reminds me of local news tidbits they sprinkle throughout the year - missing people in the city is a regular thing. they get taken away and get off the grid. just get lost wherever they are and get taken to in the city...

Reminds me of the case about Bob "B" Berchtold. You can get all the info on Netflix's, Abducted in Plain Sight, but to make a long story short - Berchtold was the next door neighbor to a family with 3 [?] young girls, and he becomes obsessed with the 12-year old one and ends up kidnapping her - twice. It's a really fucked up story all around, but she too ended up falling in love with her kidnapper for a brief time because he had her convinced that the two of them had to make babies together since she was from outer space

Holy shit. Yeah, the parents were grossly irresponsible, especially when letting their daughter get involved with that man because of blackmail. They should have known better and just went to the police.

And it's not even just blackmail. He kidnapped her when she was 12, right? But before that they would let him sleep with her in bed because she "slept better" with him in the bed with her

I can't remember all the details, but there is a bit more of how they just pretty much let this guy take her away.

They say sex trafficking but then give no mention of if he pimped her out to make it sex trafficking or if he just kept her for himself which would be just "plain" kidnapping. Nor does it mention if he raped her at all. The internet pretty much ruined any sense of journalism we had left in this country.
