I played it at Blizzcon and it was... fine. The outrage was not ever about the quality of the game, but more about Blizzard going into a market that none of their fanbase gave a shit about. Oh and how badly they handled the unveiling and follow up questions.

Plus I'm sure the game will be riddled with microtransactions when released

i played it at blizzcon too, I can't believe i missed the opportunity to meet Aecioo

I don't have any problem with Blizzard making a mobile Diablo game, that just seems like a normal thing to me. And I'd go as far to say Diablo Immortal was good.

The thing that really bugged me about it was that they were acting like it's a new game, with new lore about the 20 years between Diablo 2 and 3 where you play as humans trying to survive. But.... it was Diablo 3 on a phone. They successfully ported Diablo 3 to a phone and it worked really well. You played as the Diablo 3 characters. It wasn't a new game, and these weren't different characters. Good job at bringing Diablo 3 to a phone.

But don't try to convince me it's a new game.

Uh. All those were games that got expansions that were not full priced to add onto a full base game.

SC3 purposely held parts of the story back to make it 3 games and charge full, which changed because of the immense backlash and Blizzard changing it to free to play and adding microtransactions

This is dumb. Obviously if you play a priest you want to heal and support sometimes but not 100% of the time. It's cool that priests can actually be DPS if they want to be, and also healers. If it took less than 300 hours to level up a character it would be a different issue.

Cata was great imo. Mists was less cool but the lore was fun. Warlords was when it hit the gutter I think.

Cata was good on launch and then shit the bed from firelands on.

Basically when they dropped the Naga raid and pretty much half the planned expansion content with it.

Eh, personally the Starcraft 2 divided into 3 parta never bothered me, but it WAS a mistake, no doubt about it
The PvP did feel complete but the campaign didn't, even though they said "every race campaign is as long as the whole campaign from the original" which is just..incorrect
However, they were super fun. Every mission was unique and had those challenges to complete
The story is the worst I have ever seen

And the biggest problem is that dividing it to 3 parts made peoplr feel like skipping a "incomplete game" and wait for it to complete
But it was only finished 5 years later...and at that point, no one cared anymore

I guess that's a fair take, actually I did take a break after the first major content of cata. Forgot about that

I think there's a case for the following two events that happened pretty close to each other:

Firing 800 employees while seeing record profits, and the way they handled the end of HGC: not telling the players or esports teams until suddenly they announced out of the blue no more HGC.

(But I'm coming at this from the perspective of a game developer who wants rights and stability for people who work in games, and also some of my IRL friends got fucked by these layoffs).

wrath was peak WoW.

Zones finally had a unifying story while not having the constricting linearity they'd shackle you towards in the future. You had important NPC's that actually grew and were built up without them having to constantly go out of character. The best raid in WoW history(Ulduar), a new and improved standard for dungeon design, the best open world pvp zone that blizzard still hasnt been able to match. Classes were finally becoming free from their 1 button systems, pvp was as fun as it'd ever be. Hell Dalaran was so good blizzard gave up in a later expansion and just gave us Dalaran again(And all future hubs are now "new Dalaran").

There were some misses in wrath(10/10H/25/25H) but most of the misses still laid out the groundwork for things to be improved later.

Their support of Big Priest in Hearthstone, refusing to properly change the graveyard mechanic. It has become so ridiculous I just concede every wild ranked game against Priest to save time.
