Even on the bigger budget end I'll endlessly defend the point that super Mario bros was a fun post apocalyptic film, and garbage pail kids had some great costuming and special effects. But there's nothing redeemable about this corny, cgi-ridden, poorly written piece of rubbish. Even trying to make it look old was a failure; they could've literally just not done digital -- or done something to the actual film to make it look grainier. Instead it just looks disingenuous. Watch it in 240p then if shit VHS quality is your thing and this is coming from someone who digs entertaining 80s schlock like Killing American Style, Blind Fury, and Hard Ticket to Hawaii. The movie was produced and written to fit a half million dollar Kickstarter budget so that meant being as creative and cheap as possible with CGI and green screen.
