In a bizarre sight at a California High School Football game when a player had to TACKLE his OWN teammate for running the ball the WRONG way down the field!!

Antonio Bush, of Fairfield High School, picked off an interception from QB Jackson Troutt of Rodriguez High School on last Friday's game and ran the ball in the wrong direction

Video shows the player and the coach pointing in horror as Bush was running ot the opposing end zone and that's when Senior Kha'ron Thrower had to ran dun and tackle Bush before he could score 2 points for the opposing team

Thrower wrote "I saved the game with the tackle, teammate ran the opposite way off the interception"

Bush then tweeted his thanks for stopping him and explained that it was only his THIRD game of the season due to an injury and his first career reception

Thrower wrote "That was lil bro first interception noted that he's only played 2.5 games due to injury going into that game and that was his first game back off another injury so i don't really blame him and that had nothing to do with us losing, lil bro, fine and he'll bounce back"

They lost the game 14-7 bringing their record 0-7 FOR THE SEASON!!

Coach Matsu Matsukado noted the rough season and said "It seems like we shoot ourselves in the foot or have mental lapses, i know mostof these guys are tired becausethey're going both ways but there's no excuse. We're not executing as well as we should be"

This is reminiscent of a 1964 NFL game between the Vikings and 49ers when Jim Marshall recovered a fumble and raced it 66 yards in the wrong direction giving points ot the opposing team

Do you think this kid should be cut from team for this?.

How the hell is no winning by a landslide?

If you make an intelligent post, people tend to ignore it because they only respond to stupid. Don't believe me? Just look at most of the chained replies.

Did you mean should the kid get cut who tackled his own teammate or should the kid get cut who ran the wrong way?

Which kid? The one who ran the wrong way or the one who tackled his own teammate?

Edit: Own goals happen, so I would not cut the runner unless there was malicious intend and it is a recurring thing.
Cutting the tackler depends on the nature of the tackle and how he treated the runner afterwards.

It seems like he treated him pretty nice. Based on the tweet, that is...

In Soccer own goals are more common because of deflections and unlucky bounces by the ball in American Football they almost never happen it's like 1 in 10k+ games, you have to accidentally run the wrong way to get one and even then they call it a safety not a touchdown. A safety is worth 2 points for the opponent but you do have to kick the ball to the opposing team to give them possession afterwards.

A safety is just a punt kick isn't it?

No safety is when you are on offense and are either tackled in the end-zone or run into the end-zone intentionally and either get tackled or throw the ball away. It's a very rare scoring play though because it only ever happens when the offense is backed up on their own goal line and get tackled there or someone does something stupid like running the wrong way.

I know what a safety is. I was asking about the kick itself.
