The Kurds were only allied with us because we shared common enemies, much like how we were allied with the Taliban back in the 1980's, because we shared common enemies with the Soviet Union. The Taliban turned on us, and were directly responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

I would not be surprised if Kurdistan, if it became its own country, to turn on us and become a state-sponsor of terrorism. ISIS is destroyed. We should pull out of the Middle East entirely, and let them fight their own damn wars. We were there for nearly 20 years, and it did absolutely nothing good for us or the rest of the world. It's time for our troops to come back home.

They're no better than the Kurds, but the difference is that the Saudis do have weapons of mass destruction and and easily turn on us, so better to appease them than to risk yet another way. The Kurds don't even have a country of their own.

If Texas was trying to secede from the US and helping England fight terrorists in Mexico, you'd better believe that the US would want to put down that rebellion even if it interferes with England's ambitions.

More importantly, the fact that the US has been fighting a proxy war in Syria has greatly exacerbated the conflict and has helped to fuel the refugee crisis. Instead of having a concrete resolution one way or the other, we have a perpetual civil war that's displacing countless Syrians.

The Turkish government and US government aren't moral equals. Making up false scenarios is a bad look to justifying horrible actions, akin to Trump's "The Kurds didn't help us at Normandy" comments.
