Crazy, da fuck was she trying to accomplish, get sympathy points or something?

"Now questions remain on how doctors could do so many unnecessary tests and surgeries. The doctor who finally pieced it all together said it's because physicians are determined to find answers when a parent claims a child is sick.

"To say 'no you're lying' seems harsh and what if you're wrong -- so until you've exhausted every test, sometimes more than once, it's very difficult to be like, 'I'm done trying' -- no one wants to give up on a kid," Dr. Suzanne Dakil told WFAA."

Gotta feel a little sorry for the doctors who were trying to help.

Ahh so this is the shit my mother pulled on me to get me drugged out of my mind as a kid. She would often take me to the doctors and psychiatrists offices and tell me not to utter a word and then proceed to tell them that there was something wrong with me because I wasnt talking.

One time I was so drugged up I forgot the whole plan and when she tried to get me to talk in front of the psychiatrist I did. She beat the shit out of me afterwards for that.

A unified healthcare system would help reduce instances of this. I don't mean some sort of Medicare for all system, just a system where medical records from another facility are easily accessible by new doctors at a different facility. The new doctors could look and see what sort of claims have been made to previous doctors and see what sort of procedures have already been done. They just have to look up the patient in the unified system and can see their entire history. Seeing their full history would make these sort of cases easier to spot, often before the parent is able to cause permanent harm to the child.

I think they can already. Some people have a chip in them. There are still problems with them. But they do exist. And one of the things you can look up is medical history...

The problem is, who would hold that data? A lot of people wouldn't trust the government to have that kind of data, and I would imagine that even fewer people would trust a private company.

Yeah, but currently it is all up to the patient (or guardian in this case) so in cases where they are intentionally trying to deceive doctors they can just withhold information.

True. Though if these do get all those problems solved and became mandatory, doctors could explain that they couldnt help until they scanned the other person.
Especially since they would have to add that medicine to their medical history, as well...

Oh fuck you guys just reminded me of post from a long time ago about how the government will go about monitoring people, they won't like make a chip mandatory but they'll entice people into getting themselves chipped, like saying it will have all your medical information on it, it could be part phone or something, and other forms of ID that you will have on you all the time so you'll never be without it.

Well, yeah. They can't make it mandatory so easily. People would flip. But making it make life easier would make some people want to get it. And then by making it needed for certain things, like going to the doctor and stuff can make people want to get it. Like saying if they don't have a chip, they have to bring in ALL there medical history files a few business days before their appointment or something. Probably. Then years down the road, every baby born must have one. But that's way down the line.

Exactly. Patients have to tell new doctors who their old doctors were so they can request the medical history be transferred over. A sick parent abusing their child like this isn't going to be forthcoming with that sort of information in most cases.

Yeah the doctor medical records is a horrible system in the USA. With my cancer diagnosis I had to work with a urologist, you think they shared all the files and stuff with my primary doctor? No. I had to do it all.
