She offered no solutions, she's as useless as the UN itself, they couldn't even put a scientist on the podium (they missed out on an opportunity to give one of scientists that bailed from Trump's EPA a platform discuss solutions on addressing climate change). I don't listen to rich, fake liberals (especially snot nosed kids), but I'll at least give an actual scientist a listen.

I'm a liberal and I'm embarrassed that people have been propping up Thunberg. It just comes off as troll bait to make the other side look bad "for attacking a 16 year old girl who just wants to do the right thing." That is really all she's done or probably ever will do. Lets see if anyone is still talking about her five years from now. This is like the Parkland survivors only their behavior was more understandable, because they did endure a serious trauma.

Her speech was just so annoying and dramatic. She seems extremely unaware of how massively privileged she is. Ultimately, the biggest flaw with her speech is how utterly nave she is which is expected from someone so young. Her actions will ultimately yield little impact.

The scientists have been saying this for decades and climate change deniers have been plugging their ears, acting like there is some conspiracy that 99% of scientists are trying to cover up. Now that were being confronted by a young person who will most likely be suffering from the effects of climate change and conservatives feel the need to start slinging personal insults at her because heaven forbid we do something to make the planet a better place to live for nothing like they claim it will.

You dont need to have decades of experience on this world to see whats going on after all.

I am pro help the environment. I just don't think Thunberg will prove to have been helpful. She is mostly troll bait to shame the other side and it is embarrassing to see people use these tactics. Please try to learn to understand nuance.

It absolutely does matter who we hear the message from. It'd be much better to hear it from someone with decades of research in the field with the charisma and ability to say it in a way people can understand.

Thunberg is an over privileged very young girl with social awareness/developmental issues that gave a dramatic speech that mostly consisted of her attempting to shame people.

"How dare you. I shouldn't be here." These are dumb statements. It is just about creating memes.

I'm truly frustrated that OTHER (because I am one, I'm even LGBT too) liberal people think she has done something great or even good. It will most likely just go down as an attempt that will be forgotten.

My stance is that climate change is absolutely an important issue, but we need much better advocates who can offer better solutions.

Do you feel a 16 year old girl saying "how dare you, I shouldn't be here" has been the most beneficial thing we could have ever hoped for in a climate change advocate? Do you think her words will have a lasting inpact or will her 15 minutes soon be over? Is the UN even the best group to speak in front of? What can actually realistically be done?

Because this is what sells to the far left. A 16 year old girl with aspergers is seen as stunning and brave and people are very dishonest with themselves over her limitations.

Someone with a much more nuanced understanding of not just climate change, but politics as a whole won't act so dramatic and meme worthy. Her naivety pushes her confidence a bit it seems.

Greta is beneficial to the cause. It doesn't matter that she's not a paragon of advocacy. And the people she speaks to directly don't matter all that much either. The UN, Congress, most of the adults who already chose to ignore the scientists... I don't expect them to do anything. But kids of Greta's generation are also watching. I think she's going to have a lasting impact on them.
