i doubt leto was even considered for the role of joker for this particular movie, but at the same time, his joker was supposed to be the face of the character moving forward in the DC universe, ok?

now with actors dropping out of these movies like flies, and the success of the new movie, it's very doubtful we'll see leto as joker again. was leto screwed over?

Not really, I mean Heath Ledger won a academy award for playing Joker and he wasn't even in the sequel.

Honestly I didn't hate the Leto Joker and thought it was an interesting take on the character. Biggest issue I had with the Leto version was cosmetic. His acting was fine imho

I really enjoyed Leto's Joker. It would be a shame if he didn't get to play him in the next Suicide Squad. I don't think this new movie will have anything to do with whether he gets to be the Joker again though. Isn't it supposed to be it's own little thing, not even really connected to the DC universe?

agree. i feel he could have done well, but he was working with an awful design, with a terrible script, in a shit movie, ok?

Joker is one of my favorite Batman villains. Leto got shafted with how the Joker was portrayed in that movie, but he was still okay.

No. He tried doing what he could with his role and it didn't work out. He wasn't promised the role next time/next movie.

playing the joker doesnt seem very hard. its just up to the writers and if the whole movie is good. if heath ledger was on suicide squad, you guys would give very detailed reasons why hes the worst joker ever.

No.

It may not be his fault that Joker was badly written, but why would I feel bad for him?

There is no reason to feel bad for him, outside of empty pity.

He is recognized as one of the worst interpretations of the Joker, of which he is at least partially, personally responsible for.

The most you can give him is that he serves as a great example of what not to do with an iconic character.

No, I don't. Honestly, with the stuff he pulled to "get into character", Leto was lucky to leave the SS set without another member of the cast beating the shit out of him.

It's been implied he might have at least a cameo in the Birds of Prey film, for obvious reasons. Even if it's only a flashback.

Granted, it might not happen, but it's still possible. The DCU is pretty much a continuity nightmare at this point anyway, so casting conflicts are the least of their problems. And worst case, they can always go with the recent bullshit storyline from the comics where there's actually three different Jokers.
