I love LA to death but definitely enjoyed San Diego very much as well. SoCal in general is my favorite place to visit I would move there if it were more affordable and Cali' s laws weren't so insane

I was there a couple of weeks ago for Twitchcon. Almost any place in the Gaslamp District is amazing to eat at. If you get a chance, and want to grab breakfast: Breakfast Republic. The wait can be..lengthy, but damn was it worth it; and I'm not a person who is big on breakfast foods.

I booked our hotel. Places to eat give me

What do you enjoy? Tacos El Gordo gets packed but it's hella popular for a reason. Lucha Libre is another great place for Mexican. Couple locations for both depending on where you'll be staying.

Definitely check out the zoo. But make sure it's actually the San Diego Zoo you're going to and not the wild animal park.

Lots of hiking places if you're into that. Torrey Pines, Mt. Woodsen, Cowles Mountain, etc.

Beaches for sure. La Jolla gets hella packed and finding parking can be a nuisance. Torrey Pines, Pacific Beach, Ocean Beach, Mission Bay are all good alternates

Definitely check out Downtown especially if you wanna go barhopping/clubbing. Gaslamp District. In the day, Seaport Village is nice for a little walk and sightseeing.

If you're into Asian food, check out Convoy. Lots of great places to eat there for kbbq and ramen. Recommend either Raki Raki, Tajima or Ultra Menya for ramen, but all those places are hella popular and always packed. Parking also isn't the best in the area. Mira Mesa is also on the up and up food wise. Boiling Crab, Crab Hut if you're into seafood. Little Sakana for all you can eat sushi. Another location for Ultra Menya. Gen is prolly the hippest kbbq place I've been to too

Oh yeah. And definitely check out breweries since SD is pretty renowned for their craft beers. I recommend walking around North Park. A little hipstery but great places to drink, eat, club. A lot less hectic than gaslamp too. Belching Beaver if you're into stouts. Modern Times is great. Ballast Point another good brewery

Pretty much any Mexican food place you go to will be great, but the important thing is to try a California Burrito at one of them.

Also, if you like over the top burgers, Slater's 50/50 is good: https://slaters5050.com/

I know a lot of the hole in the walls but it depends how much you wanna drive/where you stay.

as mentioned Convoy has a lot of good ramen/Korean BBQ/Buba tea spots. Lidos in lemon grove is amazing for Italian.

gas lamp is upscale clubbing/bar hopping, Pacific Beach is where the 20-30 crowd goes to get rowdy cause its like Las Vegas strip without the public drinking on the streets (but still has a bunch of food trucks and the strip is lined with bars. If youre looking for something more Lowkey hit Ocean Beach or La Mesa for small bar strips that arent as crazy as DT/PB.

Zoo and sea world are cool. Id also advise Balboa park for scenery and a bunch of museums.

For taco shops hit Rolbertos off Aero drive. Downtown has club atomic that makes bomb tacos too.

Hope you enjoy your trip!

No idea if its a chain its the first Ive been to by that name but the burrito is the size of my forearm (no joke twice as big as most places) with the best meat in town. Theres a lot of good places but that specific location is the best Cali burrito in SD followed closely by Soritas (spelling?) in Casa De Oro.

edit: Lolitas is pretty damn good too as Torch mentioned but I dont like their red sauce much which is a huge part for me.

I am also San Diegan, good suggestions here so far but nothing about the beer? It's one of our specialties! TC, if you're looking for some brewery picks I can probably help you out, I'm more North County but I'm fairly savvy further south too.

We ate at Working Class and had a delicious chicken sandwich with a pineapple cider. Taking a break gonna watch AEW. Then head to blue water, heard the seafood there is amazing. Were gonna bring the dog to the beach then head out at night to the gas lamp district. Any cheaper suggestions for beer or cool places to drink. For cheap(er), good beer your best bet is a brewery. You said you're near Balboa Park right? North Park isn't far form there and there are a bunch of breweries/brewpubs up that way, I like Eppig and Fall. You're also close to Half Door and Pure Project, both have good brews.

Ah OK, in that case you're actually a bit closer to North Park. If you cruise down 30th you'll come across a nice selection of breweries, Fall Brewing is the closest to you and one I'd personally recommend.

Sounds like you already ate but if you get beer munchies while out sampling the suds, Tiger! Tiger! and Toronado are also in North Park and have nice local tap lists to complement their eats.
