There's always a possibility, I suppose, but I do not think the odds are high. The CCP will get as brutal as it deems necessary to prevent that from happening.

Any leader can possibly be assassinated just about anywhere, but it's highly unlikely that a leader would be killed at a sporting event where he arranges the security.

It generally takes a lot for a president to be assassinated. Lincoln started a war that killed over half a million (including black) Americans (slavery would have been eventually phased out without a war). Kennedy got his presidency through mob links and they in turn offed him and girlfriend Marilyn Monroe. There's a pattern of personal vendetta with how those two presidents got taken out.

Kim Jong Un is far more likely to be assassinated than Xi the Jingpooh. He's assassinated a lot of people himself - and relatives of those people may want revenge.
