?

Intellectually it obviously is worth it if you are super overweight, but like how do you convince yourself to believe it is worth it?

Less health problems.
It depends on what you focus on more too.
If you just go for diet only (which is completely possible and viable), then at the very least you'll most likely have better digestive systems, possibly smell better, feel more energetic, etc.
Exercising involved too means you'll be overall more fit, probably stronger/faster.

Overall most people find healthy looking people more attractive too so in your day to day life it pays off.

I know someone who did it after years of being massively overweight. I think exercise helped them stay motivated. They ate like rabbits but also enjoyed the occasional treat like ice cream or whatever.

If a person spends their whole life being treated like a fat person that's pretty hard to even imagine.

Nah, some people are like that and some people that has the inverse effect.

There are people motivated by "towards" and those motivated by "away from". If you are motivated by towards you need to focus on the thing you want that you believe you can have. If you think about the bad thing you have you are liable to get demoralized bad.

That's an inaccurate way to frame it, particularly if you talk to people with really low self esteem.

I just think it comes down to mentality. You only get one body for your entire life. Probably a good idea to take care of it. Everyone knows there are tons of health issues linked to obesity.

Would you trash a new car or house? No. So why would you do that to your body? Gotta learn to value yourself like we value material items. Your body is the most important asset you have.

Yeah for me at least I don't see women being attracted to me even if I had Chris Hemsworth's body so, cheeseburgers it is

Less health problems.

this is the entire deal for me. i live with chronic lower back pain every day, and the heavier i am, the more strain it puts on my back and the more it aggravates my pain. so i'm committed to shedding weight solely for that reason. losing weight will mean less pain to manage. once i get down below 200 i think i'm gonna try to find some very low-impact back muscle strengthening exercises that i can do that will hopefully help with managing the pain too. stronger muscles should bear the burden better i'm pretty sure.

This would be it for me. The prospect of getting diabetes is also a horrible one. Obviously there's a lot of complications there (nerve damage, organ damage, etc). But I would really just hate having to test my blood sugar and administer insulin all the time.

I imagine walking around with extra weight does put a lot of strain on the joints and whatnot and lead to pain. That's not fun.

I know the amount of effort and the time it takes can be pretty intimidating too. But it seems like almost every day on Reddit you see people posting about how they lost 200lbs in the last year or so. It can be done, you just need long-term goals. You can either lose it in a few years or roll the dice with staying the same forever. Really though, the weight loss would open a lot of doors for you.

I was borderline morbidly obese at one point. Had severe back problems due to it.

I lost a little weight, it got better. Lost more and more. Now I'm legitimately less than half the man I used to be weight-wise and can actually exist without pain.

Worth it to me.

Women don't like men who don't have discipline. If youre fat and single, know that your future wife is getting f**kd hard right now by random randy because YOU won't cut down on the damn carbs.

Also being healthy means you can get hard easily. No more limp dick. Theres a high correlation with being fat and being depressed.

I was kinda fat before. I went to the gym, lost some weight and gained some muscle. Not particularly muscular per se, but I definitely like how I look now rather than when I was fat. So yeah, it's worth it.

The first one fails if you don't assume there is anybody out there for you.

The depression is a good point though
