I love the game, but idk if I can replay it.

I know people criticize the gameplay, but I enjoyed it. the only issue that I have is how your AI companions run around during stealth, killing any sense of immersion, especially since they're invisible to enemies.

Bad comparison because Breaking Bad starts incredibly wild.

I'd argue Breaking Bad doesn't get good until after the first season.

Also I just loved TLOU for the characters, man. The gameplay was fine, nothing groundbreaking. Thought it was more engaging than Uncharted's gameplay though.

Yeah after the first hour, I was like "ok that intro was cool but this Boston stuff is lame lol"

But it gets better as it goes.

Now gameplay-wise, it won't really blow you away (though I did have fun with some of the melee weapons you can pick up like a board or a brick) but it's more or less competent. Where it really shines is characters and story.

Also, I wasn't the only one who thought for a moment that they actually killed off Joel, right? I mean, he gets impaled, faints, and then the next thing you see it's full-blown winter and you're playing as Ellie. I thought they pulled a gutsy move in storytelling there.

Nolan North did a pretty good job voicing him. Usually every game he's in he sticks out like a sore thumb. I hear him and I'm like, "oh there's Nathan Drake again", but not this time.

Nolan's got some damn impressive range to him, but everyone just wants the Nathan Drake. It's a great voice, but too iconic and recognizable now. Love that he got to do David.

Haven't played in a few days. Last thing I did was Ellie went back to Joel recovering in the basement of that house. Then David's men showed up and I had to lead em away. Hopefully I get some time to play tn

Left Behind is kind of like a prequel dlc that mainly focuses on Ellie and a friend of hers before she meets up with Joel, but there are also parts that deal with the part of the game where Ellie is alone after Joel gets hurt, iirc.

It's probably similar to a Bioshock Infinite situation: highly praised and considered a pinnacle of video games until time passed and people realized it's not actually that perfect.

From what I remember there are some parts where you're forced to get caught, which is kinda stupid. I don't remember if that area is one of them.

I've played the game a ton of times and I believe you can stealth the whole thing until the end where yeah you have to get caught. Just for that last mad dash.

Half prequel, half midquel. Half of it takes place before the main game, half of it (TC, you've already seen this spoiler) takes place during the period of time the game skips and has Ellie trying to find some first aid supplies for Joel.

Nope. This part pissed me off too.

If you use listen mode at the right point you can see they spawn zombies behind a bus when you pass a certain point. You can't avoid them detecting you.

The Last of Us starts picking up when... Tess dies.

Its an overrated game with average gameplay. Story is nothing special if you ever watched a few zombies movies or read a few zombie books. Every single plot point is predictable. Hits nearly every single zombie cliche in the book. Humans are the real monsters. Stuff like that. The game aspires to be a cinematic experience instead of being fun to play.

Graphics are good and the characters are well acted. Like God of War, its a competently made game and thats enough nowadays for games to be highly praised.

It doesn't really excel at anything, gameplay is really kinda mediocre and story just feels too similar to previous things like The Road and doesn't really go beyond that into interesting territory.

Ellie's attack on David is insane. At first, its like "Yeah, get him", but as she keeps going and going, you can tell she is really messed up at that point. Then Joel calling her Baby Girl gets me every time.
