Yeah, they make the show hard to watch, especially since the flashbacks either consistently repeat the same content (such as watching Naruto on that swing a million times outside the ninja academy) or rehash something we literally just watched. I imagine at some point we'll have a re-cut of the show where that crap gets edited out.

I hate how they show so many Sasuke flashbacks during original Naruto, plus the same ones in Shippuden, along with flashbacks from original Naruto during Shippuden.

You'll just have to fast forward the flashbacks and filler-within-regular-episode parts, and skip the filler episodes. Use a filler guide. They tried to make the anime as long as possible, which ruined it. But with the flashbacks and fillers skipped it's still an enjoyable show. In Shippuden, especially near the end, some non-manga content is actually canon and worth to watch, so it's hard to figure out what to skip and what to watch.

One Piece is great, but at times can be slow. Skip flashbacks and filler-within-regular-episodes. Luckily these are more rare than in Naruto. There are a few smaller filler arcs and episodes, but they're not nearly as bad (and out of character) as Naruto's. They can be enjoyed or skipped with no problem.

Here's the thing: It's *not* a problem with most long-running anime, it's mostly just a fucking Naruto thing. Their flashbacks started almost immediately and have been waaaaay more prevalent. I'm not sure if it's strictly filler to pad out run times or what. Offhand, I can't think of a single anime that's worse about spamming flashbacks to earlier episodes.

Here's the thing: It's *not* a problem with most long-running anime, it's mostly just a fucking Naruto thing. Their flashbacks started almost immediately and have been waaaaay more prevalent. I'm not sure if it's strictly filler to pad out run times or what. Offhand, I can't think of a single anime that's worse about spamming flashbacks to earlier episodes.

Other anime do it in other ways. Like look at DBZ, they dont do flash backs, but they did fluff episodes in other ways.

Yeah, they had a bad habit of blowing through the manga material and needing to pad shit out. Would love it if there was a redone Naruto without filler/padding/recaps.
